Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico City! Upon your arrival, you will be transferred to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and unwind. The rest of the day is yours to explore or relax at your leisure. Later in the afternoon, our guide will reach out to you to ensure you have all the necessary details for your upcoming adventures. Enjoy this time getting acquainted with the vibrant atmosphere of Mexico's capital. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
On our second day, we embark on an exploration of Mexico City and the awe-inspiring site of Teotihuacan, just 40 kilometres from the capital. After breakfast, we start at the Plaza of the Three Cultures, where the past collides with the present in a unique display. From there, we journey to Teotihuacan, an impressive archaeological site where you'll see the grand Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and the Avenue of the Dead. Well also take a moment to visit a local artisan centre, offering a glimpse into traditional craftsmanship.On our return to Mexico City, we stop at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an important site for devotees across Latin America. Once back at the hotel, you are free to explore the rest of the day as you wish, soaking in the vibrant atmosphere and local sights at your own pace.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Puebla
In the morning, you'll have some leisure time to explore Mexico City at your own rhythm. After lunch, we'll arrange your transfer to the coach station for the journey to Puebla, approximately 135 kilometres from the capital. The regular coach journey will take us to Puebla's bus station, where another transfer will escort you to your hotel. Once settled in, the afternoon is yours to roam around this charming city. Founded in 1531, Puebla boasts stunning colonial architecture, elaborate churches, and a deep historical significance. Known for its vibrant cultural scene and culinary delights, this city with a lively university atmosphere promises much to discover. Over the coming days, youll have ample opportunity to explore at your own pace. Noteworthy highlights include the magnificent cathedral, the Palafoxiana LibraryAmerica's first public library established in 1646and the renowned Calle de los Dulces with its traditional sweet shops. Dont miss the Callejn de los Sapos, filled with enticing antique shops. Your overnight stay is included, allowing you to fully appreciate this delightful city.
Day 4 - Puebla
Today, we'll embark on a captivating five-hour excursion with admission included to the historic Ex Hacienda Chautla. Founded in the 18th century, this site is renowned for its English-style castle set against the backdrop of a picturesque artificial lake surrounded by lush forests. Next, we'll visit Val'Quirico, a charming tourist destination designed to emulate the atmosphere of a medieval European village, offering a delightful experience as you wander through its artisan shops and quaint cafs. Once we return to Puebla, youll have free time to explore and enjoy the vibrant city at your leisure. Please note, this excursion is conducted as a regular service in partnership with a local tour company.
Day 5 - Puebla
Today, we embark on a six-hour excursion exploring the cultural gems surrounding Puebla. Our first destination is Cholula, a captivating town designated as a Pueblo Mgico. Here, we visit notable sites such as San Francisco Acatepec, Santa Mara Tonantzintla, the San Gabriel Convent, the Royal Chapel, and Soria Park. We will ascend to the Sanctuary of the Virgin of Los Remedios, perched atop the Great Pyramid, offering spectacular views. We continue to Chipilo, a unique community established by Italian immigrants, celebrated for its cheese production. A cheese tasting session is included, allowing us to enjoy local flavours. Our journey then takes us to Atlixco, where you'll have the opportunity to wander its Historic Centre, observe the intricate murals on the Wide Staircase, marvel at the Floral Clock, and visit the charming Magical Garden and the Glass Viewpoint.After returning to Puebla, youll have leisure time to further explore this vibrant city at your own pace. This excursion operates in collaboration with a local tour company, offering you an authentic experience.
Day 6 - Puebla - Oaxaca
We set off for the state of Oaxaca, traversing mountainous landscapes with stunning views along the journey. Our arrival in Oaxaca is scheduled for late morning, where we'll delve into the rich tapestry of history this UNESCO World Heritage city offers. Founded by the Aztecs, Oaxaca is famed for its remarkable historical significance. We'll venture to Monte Albn, majestically perched 400 metres above the Oaxaca Valley. This ancient Zapotec site, for which entry and a guided tour are included, showcases impressive archaeological wonders. Following our visit, you'll have the freedom to continue exploring Oaxaca at your leisure, soaking in the city's vibrant culture and charm.
Day 7 - Oaxaca - San Pablo Villa de Mitla - Tuxtla Gutirrez
We begin our day with an early departure, heading towards San Pablo Villa de Mitla, a quaint Pueblo Mgico. Here, you'll have time to wander around the streets characterised by their rustic charm and visit the 16th-century Church of San Pablo. After enjoying the serene atmosphere, we carry on our journey through Oaxaca's mountain landscapes, making our way to the Isthmus. A delightful lunch will be provided along the route. By the late afternoon, we will reach Tuxtla Gutirrez, the capital city of Chiapas, where you can settle in and relax after a day of travel.
Day 8 - Tuxtla Gutirrez - Sumidero Canyon - Chiapa de Corzo - Zinacantn - San Juan Chamula - San Cristobal de las Casas
Today, we'll embark on an adventure exploring the breathtaking Sumidero Canyon. Enjoy a scenic boat ride through the canyon, which extends an impressive 14 kilometres and plunges nearly a kilometre deep. After our journey through this natural wonder, we will visit Chiapa de Corzo, a charming colonial town steeped in tradition and culture. Here, youll have time to wander its historic streets and soak in the local atmosphere.Next, we delve into the rich Mayan heritage by visiting the picturesque villages inhabited by the Tzotzil people. In Zinacantn, you'll observe the vibrant traditional dress of the women and explore the inviting craft shops and weaving workshops. Our cultural exploration continues in San Juan Chamula, where the church offers a fascinating blend of Christian and pre-Columbian customs.Finally, we proceed to San Cristbal de las Casas, a beautiful colonial city founded in 1528. Youll have the afternoon free to explore this enchanting city at your own pace, with its cobblestone streets and unique blend of indigenous and Spanish influences, providing a delightful backdrop for your discoveries.
Day 9 - San Cristobal de las Casas - Mexico City
