Day 1 - Chihuahua
Upon landing at Chihuahua airport, you will be greeted by our transfer representative, ready to escort you to your hotel. Once you've settled, our guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to commence a comprehensive city tour. We will explore several key attractions, including the Pancho Villa Museum, showcasing artefacts from the life of the legendary revolutionary leader. The tour continues to the impressive Cathedral and the architecturally striking Quinta Gameros Museum. You'll also visit the Government Palace and take a stroll through the city's historic residential neighbourhoods, offering a glimpse into the local culture. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Chihuahua - Creel
On the second day of our journey, after enjoying breakfast, we will set off through stunning landscapes filled with mountains and forests, travelling 260 kilometres to reach Creel. Along the way, we will pass through towns home to Mennonite communities. Creel, a vibrant Pueblo Mgico, is known as the gateway to the Copper Canyon. Upon arrival, we'll embark on a captivating tour of the area. We'll start by visiting Lake Arareko, and continue to the historic San Ignacio Mission. You'll have the chance to explore the Tarahumara caves, where local families still reside, offering a unique glimpse into the lives of the indigenous community. The tour will also take you through the Valley of Mushrooms and Frogs, known for its unusual rock formations.
Day 3 - Creel - Divisadero
Today, we will embark on a spectacular 130 km journey through stunning landscapes as we travel from Creel to Divisadero. Our itinerary includes a visit to Piedra Volada Falls and the Adventure Park, where you can explore the suspension bridge and take in the breathtaking views from various scenic points. At the Adventure Park, youll have the opportunity to partake in thrilling activities like the cable car ride, zip line, zip rider, ATV and bicycle rentals, and guided hikes led by local Tarahumara guides. Please note that these activities require separate tickets, which are available for purchase at the park entrance.After lunch, which is included, we will take a guided walk through the area to admire the diverse vistas of the canyon and visit a traditional Tarahumara cave. Our journey will then continue to our hotel, where dinner is included in the evening. Enjoy a comfortable and inviting atmosphere as you unwind from the day's adventures.
Day 4 - Divisadero - Chepe express - Los mochis
Today, well embark on an unforgettable journey aboard the Chepe Express, travelling through the breathtaking Copper Canyon, renowned as one of the worlds most spectacular train routes. As we move deeper into the mountains, the train navigates challenging terrain, crossing 86 mesmerising tunnels and 37 bridges, each offering a glimpse of the powerful rivers below. Keep your eyes peeled for the magnificent views, including the highest bridge along the route and the legendary "El Descanso" Tunnel, the longest of the trip.Upon reaching LOS MOCHIS, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel, after which youll have leisure time to explore this intriguing city. Founded in 1893 by American engineer Albert K. Owen, Los Mochis was initially part of Owen's utopian socialist experiment, "The Topolobampo Colony." Set in a region known for its rich agricultural output, particularly sugarcane, Los Mochis contributed significantly to regional economic growth. Enjoy discovering the citys unique heritage and vibrant atmosphere at your own pace.
Day 5 - Los mochis - Guadalajara
Spend some leisure time in Los Mochis today before we provide your transfer to the airport. Well arrange your flight to Guadalajara, after which a transfer will take you to your hotel. Once settled, youll have free time to explore this captivating city. Renowned as the capital of Jalisco, Guadalajara is celebrated for its rich colonial heritage and is famously recognised as the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila. Enjoy discovering the vibrant culture and traditions at your own pace.
Day 6 - Guadalajara
This morning, we invite you to discover Guadalajara, a vibrant blend of colonial and modern allure. We'll explore the historic centre, taking in the majestic cathedral and the bustling market. A highlight of our tour will be the Cabaas Hospice, a UNESCO World Heritage site celebrated for its striking architecture. Following our city visit, we'll make our way to the nearby town of Tequila, the birthplace of the iconic Mexican spirit. We have arranged for an insightful tour of the renowned Mundo Cuervo distillery, where you will witness the fascinating process of tequila production. This visit includes both entrance and a tasting. After enjoying the distillery, you are free to wander through the charming streets of Tequila and perhaps enjoy lunch at your leisure. We will then return to Guadalajara in the afternoon.
Day 7 - Guadalajara - Guanajuato
Today, we journey to the state of Guanajuato, arriving around midday. In the afternoon, well embark on a guided tour of this stunning university city, which is recognised as a World Heritage site. As we explore its charmingly steep slopes, narrow alleys, and historic churches, you'll get a true sense of its unique character and beauty. We include a thrilling cable car ride, offering spectacular views from the El Ppila monument, a perfect way to admire the city's landscape and reflect on its fascinating history.
Day 8 - Guanajuato - Dolores Hidalgo - San Miguel de Allende - Queretaro
Today, we journey through the breathtaking mountains to Dolores Hidalgo, revered as the birthplace of Mexican independence. Our next stop is the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, often referred to as the "Sanctuary of God and Country." This site, recognised as a World Heritage location, may sometimes be inaccessible due to private retreats. We then continue to San Miguel de Allende, a picturesque World Heritage city famed for its exquisite colonial architecture and charming cobbled streets, where you'll have time to wander and soak in the atmosphere. Later, we will arrive in Queretaro, a city celebrated for its splendid colonial centre, vibrant Plaza de Armas, and bustling pedestrian streets lined with lively restaurants.
Day 9 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla
We will set off for Tula, the historic capital of the Toltec civilisation. Admission to the archaeological site is included, allowing us to admire the site's iconic Atlantean figurestall warrior statues standing at four metresas well as pyramids, palaces, and intricately carved columns that speak to the advanced nature of this pre-Hispanic culture. Our journey then continues to Puebla, a city celebrated for its rich culinary traditions, exquisite colonial architecture, and renowned ceramics. Here, we will highlight its grand Renaissance cathedral and the vibrant main square. This lively city will serve as our resting place for the evening, offering a chance to soak in its energetic atmosphere.
Day 10 - Puebla - Oaxaca
Today, our journey takes us toward Oaxaca, a region steeped in natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. As we travel, you'll be captivated by the mountainous landscapes that unfold before us. By late morning, well reach Oaxaca, a UNESCO World Heritage city with an illustrious past, having been founded by the Aztecs and later flourishing under colonial rule. Well explore its captivating historical sites with a guided tour included.Following this, we ascend to Monte Albn, perched 400 metres above the Oaxaca Valley. This magnificent ancient Zapotec city will leave you in awe entry and a guided tour are included to enhance your experience. Upon returning to Oaxaca city, youll have the freedom to explore further at your own pace, discovering its vibrant markets, winding streets, and delightful cuisine.
Day 11 - Oaxaca - San Pablo Villa de Mitla - Tuxtla Gutirrez
On the eleventh day of our journey, we set off from Oaxaca early in the morning. Our first stop is the enchanting town of San Pablo Villa de Mitla, a designated Pueblo Mgico. Here, you'll have the opportunity to wander around the area, exploring the quaint rustic streets and the nearby 16th-century Church of San Pablo. After soaking in the local charm, we continue our scenic drive through the mountainous region of Oaxaca towards the Isthmus. Lunch will be provided during our journey. We aim to reach Tuxtla Gutirrez, the bustling capital of Chiapas, by late afternoon.
Day 12 - Tuxtla Gutirrez - Sumidero Canyon - Chiapa de Corzo - Zinacantn - San Juan Chamula - San Cristobal de las Casas
We will begin our adventure with a boat journey through the breathtaking Sumidero Canyon, renowned for its dramatic cliffs that soar nearly a kilometre high and stretch across 14 kilometres. The experience offers a unique view of the natural beauty of Chiapas. Following this exhilarating boat ride, we will explore the historic town of Chiapa de Corzo, brimming with colonial charm and rich cultural traditions.In the afternoon, we delve deeper into indigenous Mayan culture by visiting captivating villages inhabited by the Tzotzil people. In Zinacantn, you can admire the vibrant traditional dress of the women and explore local weaving workshops renowned for their intricate craftsmanship. Our journey continues to San Juan Chamula, where we encounter a fascinating church that uniquely blends Christian and pre-Columbian customs in its ceremonies. The day's journey concludes in San Cristbal de las Casas. Here, you'll have free time to explore this beautiful colonial city, established in 1528, and immerse yourself in its rich history and vibrant atmosphere.
Day 13 - San Cristobal de las Casas - Mexico City
Today, we'll transfer you from San Cristbal de las Casas to Tuxtla Gutirrez Airport, where you'll board a flight to Mexico City (included). Upon arrival in Mexico City, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. Once checked in, you'll have the opportunity to settle in and prepare for the next stage of your Mexican adventure.
Day 14 - Mexico City
Today, we embark on a captivating journey to explore Mexico City and the extraordinary archaeological site of Teotihuacan, situated just 40 kilometres from the capital. After breakfast, we start our day at the Plaza of the Three Cultures, a fascinating place where history and contemporary life converge. We then proceed to Teotihuacan, an awe-inspiring complex where we will visit the monumental Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and the Avenue of the Dead. Our tour includes a stop at a local artisan centre, offering a glimpse into traditional craftsmanship. On our return journey to Mexico City, we will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the revered patroness of Latin America. Following our return to the hotel, you'll have the afternoon free for your own explorations.
Day 15 - Mexico City
