Day 1 - Chihuahua
Welcome to Mexico! Upon your arrival at Chihuahua Airport, our transfer representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel. After settling in, our knowledgeable guide will meet you in the hotel lobby to lead you on an enlightening city tour. You'll have the opportunity to explore the Pancho Villa Museum, the Cathedral, the Quinta Gameros Museum, and the Government Palace, as well as stroll through historic residential neighbourhoods. Please be aware that throughout the tour, the composition of the group may change as travellers join or leave at different points along the route. However, we always ensure the group remains within the maximum size for a comfortable experience. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Chihuahua - Creel
After enjoying breakfast, we will journey through picturesque landscapes of mountains and forests, passing through towns home to Mennonite communities. Covering a distance of 260 km, we will arrive in Creel, a vibrant Pueblo Mgico and the gateway to the Copper Canyon. Upon arrival, we will set off on a fascinating tour that includes visits to Lake Arareko, the historic San Ignacio Mission, Tarahumara caves inhabited by local families, and the remarkable rock formations found at the Valley of Mushrooms and Frogs.
Day 3 - Creel - Divisadero
On day three, we embark on a scenic journey spanning 130 kilometres through awe-inspiring landscapes. Our itinerary includes a visit to the magnificent Piedra Volada Falls and a trip to the Adventure Park, where you can opt to experience thrilling activities such as a cable car ride, ziplining, or hiring an ATV or bicycle. Guided hikes led by Tarahumara indigenous guides offer an insightful glimpse into the stunning terraintickets for park activities are available at the entrance. Following a lunch break (included), we will explore the area on a guided walk, stopping at several viewpoints to admire the breathtaking vistas of the canyon and visiting a traditional Tarahumara cave. Our day concludes as we proceed to the hotel for an included dinner.
Day 4 - Divisadero - Chepe express - Los mochis
On Day 4, we embark on an unforgettable journey aboard the Chepe Express, renowned as one of the world's most spectacular tourist trains. We travel in comfort through the dramatic landscapes of the Copper Canyon, cutting deep into the mountains and navigating rugged topography. As we journey, the train crosses 86 remarkable tunnels and 37 soaring bridges over powerful rivers, offering breath-taking views along the way. Be amazed by the highest bridge on the route and marvel at the El Descanso Tunnel, the longest one on this journey. Upon arriving in Los Mochis, our transfer will be ready to take you to your hotel. You'll have the rest of the day free to explore this fascinating city, founded in 1893 by American engineer Albert K. Owen as part of his utopian socialist experiment, The Topolobampo Colony. Los Mochis has grown into an important hub due to its role in local agricultural production, particularly of sugarcane, contributing significantly to the region's economic development.
Day 5 - Los mochis - Guadalajara
Today in Los Mochis, you'll enjoy some free time until your transfer to the airport. We have arranged a flight to Guadalajara for you, where you'll be taken to your hotel upon arrival. In your leisure time, explore the vibrant capital of Jalisco, renowned as the birthplace of mariachi music and tequila. This colonial city offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences waiting for you to discover.
Day 6 - Guadalajara
In the morning, we'll explore the vibrant city of Guadalajara, known for its blend of modern appeal and colonial charm. We'll visit the citys historic centre, its impressive cathedral, bustling market, and Tapata Square. A highlight of our visit will be the Cabaas Hospice, a UNESCO World Heritage site renowned for its remarkable murals. After immersing ourselves in Guadalajara's cultural heritage, well journey to the nearby town of Tequila. Here, we'll delve into the rich history of this iconic Mexican drink at the Mundo Cuervo distillery, with both entrance and tasting included in our visit. Afterwards, you'll have some time to wander around and enjoy lunch in the picturesque surroundings of Tequila. We then return to Guadalajara to conclude the days activities.
Day 7 - Guadalajara - Guanajuato
Today, we journey to the picturesque state of Guanajuato, arriving around midday. In the afternoon, we will take you on a guided tour of this enchanting university city, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Guanajuato is renowned for its steep hillsides and labyrinthine streets, each brimming with history and character. We'll visit impressive churches and unique landmarks, culminating in a cable car ride to "El Ppila" monument, where you can soak in spectacular panoramic views of the cityscape. This experience provides a perfect blend of cultural insight and breathtaking scenery, setting the stage for an unforgettable day.
Day 8 - Guanajuato - Dolores Hidalgo - San Miguel de Allende - Queretaro
Today, we travel through the picturesque mountains to Dolores Hidalgo, celebrated as the cradle of Mexican independence. Our journey continues to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, revered as the "Sanctuary of God and Country," and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Please note, on certain occasions, access to the interior may be restricted due to ongoing retreats. We then venture to San Miguel de Allende, a beautiful World Heritage city renowned for its exquisite colonial architecture and enchanting cobbled streetsyou'll have time to wander and soak up the vibrant atmosphere. Later, we head to Quertaro, admired for its splendid colonial centre, bustling Plaza de Armas, and lively dining and shopping streets.
Day 9 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla - Val quirico - Mexico City
Departing from Quertaro, we make our way to Tula, once the vibrant capital of the Toltec civilisation. Entry to the archaeological site is included, where you can marvel at the immense Atlantean figuresimposing warrior statues standing at four metres tall. The site also features pyramids, ornate palaces, and intricately carved columns, offering insight into this sophisticated pre-Hispanic culture. From Tula, we continue to Puebla, a city celebrated for its rich culinary heritage, beautiful colonial architecture, and distinctive ceramics. Here, highlights include the awe-inspiring Renaissance cathedral and the bustling main square. Later, you'll experience the unique ambiance of ValQuirico, where the architecture echoes the charm of Italys Tuscany with a medieval twist. We conclude our day with an anticipated arrival in Mexico City around 8:30 p.m.
Day 10 - Mexico City
Our journey today takes us to explore Mexico City and the magnificent Teotihuacan, situated just 40 km from the capital. Following breakfast, we begin at the Plaza of the Three Cultures, an incredible place where modern life intersects with history. The tour continues to the awe-inspiring archaeological site of Teotihuacan, where we will admire the vast Pyramids of the Sun and Moon. You can also marvel at the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and stroll along the Avenue of the Dead. Well enjoy a visit to a local artisan centre to appreciate the region's craftsmanship. On our return to the city, we will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, a revered site for many across Latin America. After returning to our hotel, you will have the remainder of the day at leisure to further explore Mexico City or relax at your own pace.
Day 11 - Mexico City
After enjoying breakfast, your journey concludes as our provided services come to an end. Please note that the transfer from the hotel to the airport is not included, so you will need to make your own arrangements for this.
