Day 1 - Mexico City
Upon your arrival in vibrant Mexico City, you'll be warmly welcomed and escorted to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to explore the city at your own pace or relax and unwind after your journey. Our guide will get in touch with you in the late afternoon to offer any assistance you might need for the days ahead. Prepare to dive into the lively atmosphere of Mexico's capital, where old and new combine in a stunning blend of culture and history. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
Our second day in Mexico City unfolds with a captivating exploration of the city's vibrant history and culture. After breakfast, we will embark on a journey to the Plaza of the Three Cultures, a remarkable spot where the pre-Hispanic past, colonial influences, and modern Mexico combine. Next on our itinerary is the fascinating archaeological site of Teotihuacan, just 40 kilometres from the city. Here, we will visit the awe-inspiring Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, along with the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and walk along the Avenue of the Dead. A stop at a local artisan centre will give us a glimpse into the traditional craftsmanship of the area. On our return to Mexico City, we will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, an important religious site as the revered patroness of Latin America. After arriving back at the hotel, the rest of the day will be yours to enjoy at leisure.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Queretaro
Enjoy a leisurely morning in Mexico City, allowing time to explore the vibrant capital at your own pace. After lunch, we will arrange your transfer to the bus station, marking the beginning of your journey to Queretaro, a scenic 200 km away. Upon arrival, you will be transferred to your accommodation. In Queretaro, delve into the city's rich historical tapestry, renowned for its contribution to Mexico's Independence and the Mexican Revolution. The UNESCO-listed historic centre beckons with its enchanting plazas, stunning baroque churches, and well-preserved colonial architecture. Over the next few days, you'll have ample opportunity to wander the charming cobblestone streets, explore the verdant gardens, and peruse the lively markets, perhaps even catching a glimpse of the famous 18th-century aqueduct.
Day 4 - Queretaro
Today, we will embark on a captivating journey to the picturesque town of San Sebastin de Bernal, recognised as a Pueblo Mgico for its enchanting charm. Nestled at the foot of the world's third-largest monolith, this serene town is also renowned for its master textile artisans. Next, well explore Tequisquiapan, celebrated for its mineral water spas and colonial-style architecture that graces its cobblestone streets. Known for its artisanal crafts, the town is particularly famous for its exquisitely woven baskets found in the artisan market. Our guided tour will provide an insight into the local history. Additionally, delight in a unique culinary visit to the San Patricio Winery and the Bocanegra Cheese Cellar. Youll gain fascinating insights into cheese production and the challenges of high-altitude winemaking, accompanied by a tasting session featuring regional wines.
Day 5 - Queretaro
Take a leisurely morning in Quertaro to further explore its captivating streets and heritage sites. In the afternoon, we're set for a distinctive theatrical experience just 40 kilometres away at Hacienda Atongo, a historic estate dating back to the seventeenth century. Our guided tour will transport us back in time as characters from the past narrate the rich history of the hacienda, encompassing its impressive main buildings and sprawling vineyard. Local actors will enhance the experience with engaging performances. Well also savour a refreshing drink crafted from the estate's own wine. After this unique cultural immersion, we'll return to Quertaro.
Day 6 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla
We depart for Tula, once the capital of the Toltec civilisation. Included in our visit to Tula is entry to its archaeological site, where you'll encounter the impressive Atlantean figures these striking four-metre-tall warrior statues are among the site's main attractions. You'll also explore pyramids, palaces, and intricately carved columns, all testament to the sophistication of this pre-Hispanic culture. After our enriching visit, we travel to Puebla, a historic city celebrated for its rich culinary traditions, splendid colonial architecture, and renowned ceramics. Among its notable landmarks are the magnificent Renaissance cathedral and a bustling main square. We'll spend the night in this vibrant and dynamic city.
Day 7 - Puebla - Oaxaca
Today, we set off towards the state of Oaxaca, traversing through scenic mountainous regions for a morning arrival in this extraordinary city, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site and originally established by the Aztecs. Our time here includes an insightful included visit to appreciate Oaxacas impressive historical heritage. Next, we journey to Monte Albn, an ancient site perched 400 metres above the Oaxaca Valley. This archaeological marvel, often considered the crowning glory of the Zapotec civilisation, includes both tickets and a guided tour. After exploring Monte Albn, we return to Oaxaca, where you have free time to further discover the vibrant city at your own pace.
Day 8 - Oaxaca - San Pablo Villa de Mitla - Tuxtla Gutirrez
We begin our day with an early departure, setting out for San Pablo Villa de Mitla, a delightful village renowned as a 'Pueblo Mgico'. Here, you'll have the opportunity to wander around the charming streets and explore the area surrounding the 16th-century Church of San Pablo. Following our stop, we journey through the picturesque mountain ranges of Oaxaca as we head towards the Isthmus region. Lunch is included along the way. By the late afternoon, our travels bring us to Tuxtla Gutirrez, the capital of Chiapas, where we'll conclude our day.
Day 9 - Tuxtla Gutirrez - Sumidero Canyon - Chiapa de Corzo - Zinacantn - San Juan Chamula - San Cristobal de las Casas
Today, we embark on a vibrant exploration of the stunning Sumidero Canyon. Well glide through this awe-inspiring natural wonder a spectacular gorge that plunges nearly a kilometre deep and stretches 14 kilometres in length aboard a boat. After marvelling at the canyon's sheer cliffs and intricate landscapes, we continue to the colonial town of Chiapa de Corzo, rich in tradition and culture. Here, you can fully immerse yourself in the local heritage.Next, we delve deeper into the heart of Mayan culture with visits to enchanting villages inhabited by the Tzotzil community. In Zinacantn, you'll have the opportunity to admire the vibrant attire of Tzotzil women and explore their exquisite shops and weaving workshops. Meanwhile, in San Juan Chamula, prepare to be fascinated by the unique church where Christian and pre-Columbian rites come together in remarkable harmony.Our journey then brings us to San Cristbal de las Casas, a beautifully preserved colonial city founded in 1528. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure, allowing you to discover the city's charming streets and absorb its historic atmosphere.
Day 10 - San Cristobal de las Casas - Mexico City
Today, we will provide a transfer from San Cristbal de las Casas to Tuxtla Gutirrez Airport, where we'll board our flight back to Mexico City this flight is included in the tour package. With that, our services conclude, and we hope you depart with cherished memories of your journey.
