Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico! Upon your arrival in vibrant Mexico City, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. Take some time to relax and explore at your leisure, perhaps getting a taste of the local culture at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, our guide will catch up with you to introduce the rest of the journey. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
On day two, we delve into the vibrant culture and history of Mexico City with a comprehensive sightseeing tour. We'll set out to explore the Plaza of Three Cultures, a location that uniquely showcases the city's Aztec, colonial, and modern identities. Our journey continues to the historic heart of Mexico City, where the impressive Zcalo and its Metropolitan Cathedral stand proudly. Here, we'll also view the main Aztec temple, offering insights into the city's ancient past.We'll then enjoy a drive along Chapultepec Park and the iconic Paseo de la Reforma Avenue, which are set amidst the bustling milieu of this remarkable metropolis. Our exploration leads us to the Basilica of Guadalupe, the most visited Catholic sanctuary in the Americas, where you can admire both the historic 18th-century basilica and the modern temple.In the afternoon, we'll travel to the neighbourhood of Xochimilco, famed for its canals and vibrant, semi-floating gardens. Here, you can enjoy a peaceful ride on a "trajinera," one of the charming flower-adorned boats. As dusk approaches, we'll take you to the lively Plaza de Garibaldi, renowned for its bars, restaurants, and the spirited sounds of Mariachi music. We'll round off the evening with a dinner at a traditional restaurant, immersing ourselves in authentic cuisine and lively local culture.
Day 3 - Mexico City - El oro de hidalgo - Mine two star - Tlalpujahua - Patzcuaro
On Day 3, our journey takes us to El Oro de Hidalgo, a picturesque Pueblo Mgico once known as one of Mexicos prime mining centres. This charming town offers a glimpse into its historic past with its European-style architecture, including the old train station and Teatro Jurez. Continuing through the lush hills and forests, a habitat for migrating monarch butterflies, we visit Mina de las Dos Estrellas. Here, a fascinating museum awaits, showcasing the region's rich mining heritage.Our adventure then leads us to Tlalpujahua, another enchanting Pueblo Mgico in Michoacn. This town is renowned for its exquisite Baroque sanctuary and charming cobblestone streets. Famous for handcrafted Christmas decorations, it's not uncommon to encounter Santa Claus in many of its shops. Youll have some free time to explore and savour lunch.As the day progresses, we journey to Ptzcuaro, one of Mexico's most beautiful colonial towns with deep pre-Hispanic roots. Its well-preserved colonial architecture, vibrant artisan markets, and unique atmosphere offer an unforgettable experience.
Day 4 - Patzcuaro - Morelia - Cuitzeo del porvenir - Guadalajara
On day four, we embark on a journey to Morelia, the capital of Michoacn, a city celebrated for its pink stone architecture and designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The city boasts a historic centre featuring the grand Cathedral, the bustling Plaza de Armas, and its esteemed university, established in 1540. After some free time to explore Morelia and enjoy lunch, we proceed to Cuitzeo del Porvenir, situated by Mexico's second-largest lake. Here, youll have the opportunity to visit the Ex-Convent of Santa Mara Magdalena, a remarkable Plateresque-style structure from the 16th century. Take a leisurely walk through the charming cobblestone streets, lined with historic buildings. We conclude our day in Guadalajara, the capital of Jalisco, renowned for its vibrant colonial atmosphere and as the birthplace of Mariachi music and tequila. We expect to arrive in the evening.
Day 5 - Guadalajara
We begin our exploration of Guadalajara, a dynamic urban centre that uniquely blends modernity with its rich colonial heritage. Our tour includes a visit to the historic city centre, where you will admire the cathedral and the bustling Tapata Square. A highlight of our visit is the Cabaas Hospice, an architectural marvel recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Following this, we head to the charming town of Tequila, where youll experience the heart of Mexico's tequila production. Weve arranged a guided tour and tasting at the renowned Mundo Cuervo distillery, offering insights into the craftsmanship behind this iconic Mexican spirit. After the tour, youll have time to stroll around and enjoy lunch in the quaint town before we return to Guadalajara, allowing you to reflect on the day's discoveries.
Day 6 - Guadalajara - Guanajuato
Today, we journey to the enchanting state of Guanajuato, arriving by midday. In the afternoon, we have arranged a guided tour of this stunning university town, celebrated as a World Heritage Site. As we explore, you'll discover its charming steep hills, narrow winding streets, and magnificent churches. To top off the day, we include a breathtaking cable car ride to the remarkable viewpoint of "El Ppila," offering unparalleled vistas of the city below. This is sure to be an inspiring experience amidst the captivating landscapes of Guanajuato.
Day 7 - Guanajuato - Dolores Hidalgo - San Miguel de Allende - Queretaro
Today, we journey through the enchanting mountainous landscapes to Dolores Hidalgo, celebrated as the cradle of Mexican independence. Here, we'll immerse ourselves in history before heading to the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, known as the "Sanctuary of God and Country" and a World Heritage Site. It stands as a testament to religious significance, though occasionally access to the interior may be restricted due to retreats. Our exploration then continues in San Miguel de Allende, an exquisite city famed for its colonial architecture and delightful cobblestone streets. You'll have some free time to wander and enjoy this charming location at your leisure. As the day draws to a close, we head to Queretaro, where its splendid colonial centre, vibrant Plaza de Armas, and bustling pedestrian streets offer a lively atmosphere to explore.
Day 8 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla
Today, we set off for Tula, a significant site that once served as the ancient capital of the Toltec civilisation. Your admission to the archaeological site is included, where you'll encounter the awe-inspiring Atlantean figuresimmense warrior statues standing four metres tallas well as remarkable pyramids, palaces, and intricately carved columns reflecting the sophistication of this pre-Hispanic society. Our journey continues to Puebla, a city steeped in history and famed for its exquisite culinary traditions, colonial architecture, and unique ceramics. As we explore, youll be captivated by the splendid Renaissance cathedral and the bustling energy of the main square. We'll settle in for the night in this vibrant city, ensuring you have plenty of time to soak in its lively atmosphere.
Day 9 - Puebla - Oaxaca
Today, we journey toward the enchanting state of Oaxaca, taking in the stunning mountainous landscapes along the way. By late morning, we will reach Oaxaca City, a UNESCO World Heritage Site steeped in rich history, originally founded by the Aztecs. Here, we will embark on an included exploration of the city, marvelling at its historical significance. Our day continues with a visit to Monte Albn, an ancient Zapotec city perched 400 metres above the Oaxaca Valley. This guided tour, with tickets included, will offer insights into the magnificence of this archaeological wonder. Upon returning to Oaxaca City, you will have leisure time to further discover its vibrant streets and cultural offerings at your own pace.
Day 10 - Oaxaca - San Pablo Villa de Mitla - Tuxtla Gutirrez
We set off early in the morning, heading to San Pablo Villa de Mitla, a delightful Pueblo Mgico. Here, youll have the opportunity to meander around the rustic streets and take in the 16th-century Church of San Pablo. Our journey continues as we traverse the mountainous terrain of Oaxaca, heading toward the Isthmus. Lunch is catered en route to ensure you are well-fuelled for the remainder of the drive. By the late afternoon, we expect to arrive in Tuxtla Gutirrez, the bustling capital of Chiapas, ready to explore more of this captivating region.
Day 11 - Tuxtla Gutirrez - Sumidero Canyon - Chiapa de Corzo - Zinacantn - San Juan Chamula - San Cristobal de las Casas
You will start your day with a breathtaking journey through the Sumidero Canyon. We will board a boat and sail through this magnificent canyon, which reaches depths of nearly a kilometre and stretches over 14 kilometres in length. After our cruise, we will explore Chiapa de Corzo, a charming colonial town steeped in rich tradition and culture.Our adventure continues as we immerse ourselves in the vibrant Mayan culture by visiting picturesque villages inhabited by the Tzotzil Indians. In Zinacantn, you will have the opportunity to admire the vibrant attire of the local women and explore a variety of enticing shops and weaving workshops. Our journey then takes us to San Juan Chamula, where you will be captivated by its unique church that blends Christian and pre-Columbian traditions in its rituals.Finally, we proceed to San Cristbal de las Casas, a stunning colonial city founded in 1528. Here, you will have the afternoon free to explore at your leisure, soaking in the city's beauty and history.
Day 12 - San Cristobal de las Casas - Mexico City
On the twelfth day, we will journey from San Cristbal de las Casas to Tuxtla Gutirrez Airport for our flight back to Mexico City, which is included in your itinerary. Upon arrival in Mexico City, you will be transferred to your hotel and provided with accommodation for the night, allowing you to relax and enjoy your final evening in this vibrant city.
Day 13 - Mexico City
After enjoying breakfast in Mexico City, it's time to conclude your journey. Please note that the transfer from the hotel to the airport is not included in our services, so you'll need to make your own arrangements for this part of your departure.
