Day 1 - Mexico City
Welcome to Mexico! Upon your arrival in Mexico City, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. You can then enjoy some free time to start exploring this vibrant metropolis at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, our guide will get in touch with you to ensure you're settled and to answer any questions you might have. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Mexico City
On the second day of our Mexican adventure, we'll thoroughly explore Mexico City and the extraordinary archaeological site of Teotihuacan, just 40 kilometres from the capital. After enjoying breakfast, we'll start our day at the Plaza of the Three Cultures a remarkable spot where history blends with modernity. Our journey continues as we head to Teotihuacan, an awe-inspiring ancient city famed for its monumental Pyramids of the Sun and Moon, the Temple of Quetzalpapalotl, the Citadel, and the Avenue of the Dead. Here, you'll marvel at this impressive legacy of Mesoamerican culture. We'll also make a stop at a local artisan centre, where you'll have a chance to observe traditional craftsmanship. On our return to Mexico City, we will visit the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the revered patroness of Latin America. Once back at the hotel, the rest of the day is yours to discover the city at your leisure.
Day 3 - Mexico City - Tepoztlan - Cuernavaca - Taxco
After breakfast, we depart from vibrant Mexico City and venture into the serene state of Morelos, arriving first in Tepoztln. This enchanting town, celebrated as a "Pueblo Mgico," is renowned for its spiritual and wellness attractions. It is beautifully set against a lush hillside crowned with a small pyramid. Here, you will have free time to wander the town's charming streets or explore its artisan market.We continue our journey to Cuernavaca, the capital of Morelos, fondly known as "The City of Eternal Spring." Founded in pre-Hispanic times, Cuernavaca later became a haven for Aztec nobility and Spanish colonial elites. During our visit, we'll marvel at the historic architecture of Hernn Corts Palace, the cathedral, and enjoy the city's picturesque gardens and parks. You will have free time for lunch to savour the local cuisine.Our day concludes in Taxco, nestled in the mountains of Guerrero and celebrated as one of Mexicos most picturesque "Pueblos Mgicos." With its colonial allure, quaint cobbled streets, whitewashed houses, and famed silver craftsmanship, Taxco offers an unforgettable experience. You'll have time to explore this captivating city before retiring for the night.
Day 4 - Taxco - Chilpancingo - Acapulco
Following breakfast, we will venture through the mountains to reach Chilpancingo de los Bravo, the lively capital of Guerrero. This city holds a pivotal role in Mexico's independence history and offers a vibrant glimpse into Mexican life. Our guide will accompany you to the regional museum, which showcases large murals depicting Mexico's rich history. We will then continue our journey to Acapulco, famed for its stunning beaches and breathtaking landscapes. Upon arrival, you'll have the opportunity to relax on the popular beach, where numerous restaurants offer a variety of lunch options. In the afternoon, we will explore La Fortaleza, a 17th-century fort originally built to safeguard the city from pirate attacksentrance tickets are included. After our visit, we'll arrange transfer to your hotel, giving you free time to unwind and explore Acapulco at your leisure.
Day 5 - Acapulco - Zihuatanejo
Following breakfast, we'll set off along the picturesque Pacific Coast, travelling 230 kilometres to Zihuatanejo. This delightful destination is famed for its stunning beaches, laid-back vibe, and charming cobblestone streets. Once a tranquil fishing village, Zihuatanejo has preserved its distinctive character. Our journey includes a brief 10-minute boat ride to Playa Las Gatas, a serene spot only accessible by sea. There, you'll have the chance to swim, unwind, and savour a meal at one of the local eateries. After heading back by boat, you can settle into your accommodation and enjoy some leisure time. It's worth noting that during peak seasons, lodgings in Zihuatanejo can be limited. In such cases, we may head out in the late afternoon to stay in Lzaro Crdenas instead.
Day 6 - Zihuatanejo - Janitzio - Patzcuaro
On day six, our journey ushers us into the lush mountains of Michoacn, leaving the arid landscapes behind. Our first destination is Lake Ptzcuaro, where we'll enjoy a 30-minute boat trip to Janitzio. This charming island is home to the Purpecha community, who maintain their traditional lifestyle and are famed for their distinctive butterfly-net fishing technique. You'll have the chance to savour lunch at one of the local eateries, wander the islands quaint streets, and, for those who are interested, ascend to the towering statue of Jos Mara Morelos, a national hero. Following our excursion, well head back to the mainland and explore Ptzcuaro itself, renowned as one of Mexicos most picturesque colonial towns. Its mix of pre-Hispanian heritage, captivating colonial architecture, and artisan markets creates an enchanting atmosphere.
Day 7 - Patzcuaro - Morelia - Cuitzeo del porvenir - Guadalajara
Today, we set off for Morelia, the stunning capital of Michoacn and a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site. Renowned for its distinctive pink stone architecture, the city's historic centre offers fascinating sights such as the grand Cathedral, the bustling Plaza de Armas, and the Universidad Michoacana, established in 1540. You'll have the freedom to explore, soak in the atmosphere, and find a spot to enjoy lunch. Our journey then leads us to Cuitzeo del Porvenir, nestled beside Mexico's second-largest lake. This charming town invites you to wander its cobbled streets and admire the Ex-Convent of Santa Mara Magdalena, a splendid example of 16th-century Plateresque architecture. As our adventure continues, we head to Guadalajara, the vibrant capital of Jalisco. Known as the birthplace of Mariachi music and Tequila, this colonial city welcomes us in the evening.
Day 8 - Guadalajara
Begin your day in Guadalajara with a guided exploration of this vibrant city, blending modernity with colonial charm. We'll discover the historic centre, where the impressive cathedral and bustling Tapata Square are located. Well visit the Cabaas Hospice, a UNESCO World Heritage site, known for its captivating murals. After immersing ourselves in the citys culture, we'll head to the nearby town of Tequila. Here, we'll tour the Mundo Cuervo distillery to learn about this iconic Mexican spirit, concluding with a tasting session. Following this, enjoy a leisurely stroll and lunch in the picturesque town before we return to Guadalajara for an evening at your leisure.
Day 9 - Guadalajara - Guanajuato
Today, we head to the captivating state of Guanajuato, arriving around midday. In the afternoon, we'll take you on a guided tour of this charming university city, recognised as a World Heritage Site. With its steep inclines, narrow streets, and beautiful churches, Guanajuato offers a rich tapestry of historical and cultural experiences. You'll enjoy a cable car ride to the scenic viewpoint of El Ppila, where you can marvel at the stunning vistas of the city sprawling beneath you.
Day 10 - Guanajuato - Dolores Hidalgo - San Miguel de Allende - Queretaro
Our journey today takes us through the mountainous landscapes to Dolores Hidalgo, the birthplace of Mexican independence. Here, you'll have the chance to absorb the town's rich historical significance. Our next stop is the Sanctuary of Atotonilco, famously known as the "Sanctuary of God and Country," which is a World Heritage Site. Please note that entry to the interior may not always be possible due to ongoing retreats. Continuing, we reach the beautiful World Heritage city of San Miguel de Allende. This city is celebrated for its stunning colonial architecture and quaint cobbled streets, offering plenty of opportunities for a leisurely stroll. Our day concludes in the vibrant city of Queretaro, renowned for its remarkable colonial centre, lively Plaza de Armas, and bustling restaurants and pedestrian areas, where you'll find a welcoming atmosphere.
Day 11 - Queretaro - Tula - Puebla - Val quirico - Mexico City
Today we begin our day with a visit to Tula, the ancient capital of the Toltec civilisation. Admission to the archaeological site is included, where we will be captivated by the towering Atlantean statues. These impressive warrior figures, standing four metres tall, are the sites main attraction. As we explore further, you'll discover the remarkable pyramids, palaces, and intricately carved columns that highlight the sophistication of this pre-Hispanic society. Our journey then takes us to Puebla, a city steeped in history and famed for its rich culinary heritage, stunning colonial architecture, and vibrant ceramics. Here, you'll marvel at the Renaissance-style cathedral and soak up the atmosphere in the bustling main square. Next, we visit ValQuirico, a place reminiscent of Italys picturesque Tuscany, where the European-inspired medieval architecture will transport you to a different time. We will conclude our journey today with our arrival back in Mexico City, expected around 8:30 p.m.
Day 12 - Mexico City
After breakfast, it's time to bid farewell to Mexico. You will have some leisure moments before ending our services. Please note that the transfer from the hotel to the airport is not included, so you'll need to make independent arrangements for this part of your journey. As you reflect on the vibrant places and experiences you've encountered, we hope your memories of Mexico linger long after you return home.
