Day 1 - Tuxtla Gutirrez - San Cristobal - San Cristbal de las Casas
On arrival at Tuxtla Gutirrez International Airport, you will be met and transferred to Sumidero Canyon, one of Mexicos most remarkable natural wonders. To join the two-hour boat tour through the canyon, please ensure your flight arrives no later than 1:00 pm. During the cruise, you will be surrounded by towering canyon walls draped in dense vegetation and have the chance to spot wildlife including crocodiles, monkeys and a variety of birds. After the boat trip, we continue to San Cristbal de las Casas where you will be dropped off at your hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 2 - San Cristbal de las Casas
After breakfast, meet your guide at the hotel for a visit to the indigenous villages of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantn. In San Juan Chamula, explore the whitewashed cathedral, notable for its colourful decoration and the pine-scented, candlelit interior that creates a distinctive spiritual atmosphere. Both villages are predominantly inhabited by the Tzotzil Maya, who maintain their own language and traditional dress. In Zinacantn, sample a regional drink and discover ancient weaving techniques using loom waste, a craft dating back to pre-Columbian times. You will also have the chance to taste traditional handmade tortillas. Returning to San Cristbal de las Casas, enjoy a guided city tour highlighting its colonial architecture and historical sites. After the tour, you will be transferred back to your hotel, with the afternoon free at your leisure. Overnight in San Cristbal de las Casas.
Day 3 - San Cristbal de las Casas
After breakfast at the hotel, we depart around 8:00 am for Montebello Lakes. On the way, we visit Amatenango de Valle, known as The Town of Potters, where you will see traditional mud crafting techniques in practice. Continuing on, we explore the stunning Montebello Lakes and Chifln Waterfallnatural wonders offering crystal-clear waters and lush surroundings. You will have the opportunity to take a refreshing dip beneath the waterfall, an invigorating experience. We return to San Cristbal de las Casas by approximately 7:30 pm, leaving the evening free for you to relax at your leisure.
Day 4 - San Cristobal - Palenque
We depart early from San Cristbal de las Casas and travel towards Palenque. Along the way, we stop at Agua Azul to enjoy a refreshing swim in its spectacular waterfalls, formed by the Otuln, Shumulj and Tulij rivers carving through steep canyons. Next, we visit the impressive Misol-Ha Waterfall, which plunges 30 metres into a lush tropical rainforest setting, offering a cool and tranquil atmosphere. After these natural highlights, we continue to Palenque where you check in to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to relax and explore at your leisure.
Day 5 - Palenque
We start early, departing around 6:00 am to visit the archaeological site of Bonampak, renowned for its vivid Mayan murals that offer insight into ancient life. Afterwards, we travel to the Usumacinta River, where we take a one-hour boat ride to reach the impressive site of Yaxchilan, set deep within the jungle along the riverbanks. Following the visit, we return to Palenque by late afternoon, leaving the rest of the day free for you to relax or explore at your leisure. Overnight in Palenque.
Day 6 - Palenque - Villahermosa
After breakfast at your hotel in Palenque, we depart for Villahermosa, situated on the banks of the Grijalva and Carrizal Rivers. On the way, we visit the Palenque archaeological site, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its exceptional Mayan architecture, intricate sculptures, roof combs, and bas-relief carvings. We take a guided tour to explore and appreciate these remarkable features. Following the visit, we continue to Villahermosa Airport, arriving around 5:00 pmplease ensure your onward flight is scheduled accordingly.
