Day 1 - Amman
Upon your arrival at Amman airport, we extend a warm welcome to Jordan. After completing the necessary border formalities, you'll be transferred to your hotel. You'll then have free time to start exploring or simply relax and soak in the atmosphere of this vibrant city at your leisure. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman
Following breakfast, we head north into the Jordanian mountains to explore the impressive Ajlun Fortress, a formidable 12th-century castle. This region has historically been home to Muslims and Orthodox Christians, and we visit the ancient Church of Saint Sergius, a symbol of unity and peace. Shall we all take a moment to reflect and wish for peace? After this, a delightful lunch awaits us. Our journey continues to Jerash, where we immerse ourselves in the remarkable Roman archaeological site, marvelling at its grandeur and historical significance. We then return to Amman, where you can settle into your accommodation and reflect on the day's discoveries.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Amman
On the third day of our journey, we depart from Amman and head to the Desert Castles, impressive structures dating between the 7th and 8th centuries. Our first stop is Qasr Kharana, noted for its robust architecture and thick walls. We continue to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qusayr Amra, celebrated for its notable frescoes. As we travel onwards to Madaba, lunch is included in our plans. There, we will explore the Madaba Archaeological Park, traversing an ancient Roman road, followed by a visit to the Church of St. George. This church is renowned for its remarkable 6th-century mosaic, the oldest known map of the Holy Land. Our journey then takes us to Mount Nebo, where biblical tradition holds that Moses viewed the Promised Land. Later, we return to Amman, where you will have free time to immerse yourself in the local culture or relax as you wish.
Day 4 - Amman - Bethany - Dead Sea
On the fourth day of our journey, we set off for Bethany, located on the banks of the River Jordan. Recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Bethany is renowned as the baptismal site of Jesus by John the Baptist. Following this, we visit the Dead Sea Museum, situated within an impressive Panorama Complex. Lunch is included. Upon arriving at our hotel by the Dead Sea, take the opportunity to experience a swim in the saltiest sea at the lowest point on Earth. Dinner and accommodation are included, rounding off a day where history and natural wonders converge.
Day 5 - Dead Sea - Shoubak - Petra
Today we embark on an enthralling journey through the heart of Jordan. Our route takes us along the historic King's Road, renowned for its connection to the ancient Moab Kingdom as mentioned in biblical times. Our first stop is Karak Castle, an awe-inspiring example of military architecture from the 12th century, which played a key role as a fortress between Jerusalem and Aqaba. We then arrive in Dana, a charming village perched atop a massive cliff, where we pause for lunch. Travelling onward along the King's Road, we head to Shoubak for a brief photo opportunity to capture its imposing Crusader Castle from the outside. Our day continues as we reach Wadi Musa, the town at the gateway to Petra. Here, we explore the Moses Spring, said to be the site where Moses struck a rock with his rod to yield water, and acquire insights into the area's rich past at the Petra Museum, home to fascinating artefacts from the Nabateans. Your evening unfolds with the option to visit an old Turkish bath or enjoy a captivating light and sound show in Petra. Dinner is included, followed by accommodation for the night.
Day 6 - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today promises the most thrilling experience of our journey. We begin by exploring the awe-inspiring archaeological site of Petra. This ancient city, established around 300 BCE, is famed for its temples and tombs intricately carved into the rose-red cliffs, accessible via a breathtaking narrow canyon. After an included lunch, we set off to the majestic desert of Wadi Rum. Upon arrival at the Visitor Centre, 4x4 vehicles will take us through some of the desert's most striking landscapes. Included is a memorable 45-minute camel ride across the sands, where we'll visit Khazali Canyon, renowned for its rock engravings that trace back the origins of the Arabic language. We will enjoy dinner and stay overnight in a desert camp.
Day 7 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba
Following breakfast, we set off for Aqaba, Jordan's lively second city and a key modern commercial port. Take the afternoon to unwind and enjoy the hotel resort amenities, or take a dip in the inviting warm waters of the Red Sea. This time is yours to explore the city or relax as you prefer.
Day 8 - Aqaba - Amman - Cairo
Following breakfast, we embark on a journey along the scenic desert road to Amman airport. Upon arrival, we catch a flight to Egypt, which lasts just over an hour. Once we land in Cairo, we will go through border procedures and then transfer to our hotel. The rest of your day is free for you to explore at your leisure or simply relax and soak in the vibrant surroundings of this bustling city. Please note that depending on the number of travellers, our trip from Aqaba to Amman Airport may be conducted on a regular VIP coach.
Day 9 - Cairo
On day nine, immerse yourself in the wonders of ancient Egypt as we embark on a full-day exploration. We'll visit the iconic Pyramids of Cheops, Khafre, and Menkaure. Although access inside the pyramids is not included, you'll marvel at these architectural masterpieces and the mysterious Sphinx, carved directly from rock. Our journey continues at the Egyptian Museum, home to a world-renowned collection of ancient art and the exquisite treasures from the Tomb of Tutankhamun. After enjoying an included lunch, we will explore the Citadel of Saladin, a historical landmark offering stunning views of Cairo, and visit the majestic Alabaster Mosque. Our day concludes with a stroll through the Coptic neighbourhood, where we'll visit the Hanging Church, built atop a Roman fortress.
Day 10 - Cairo - Luxor
After breakfast, we'll arrange your transfer from the Cairo hotel to the airport for your included flight to Luxor. Upon arrival, you'll be taken directly to your cruise ship for boarding and accommodation. Enjoy full board on the cruise as we visit the awe-inspiring temples of Luxor and Karnak, renowned for their vast and monumental architecture. Accommodation will be on board, allowing you to unwind and soak in the atmosphere of this historic region.
Day 11 - Luxor - Esna
Today, immerse yourself in the wonders of the Theban Necropolis as you explore the renowned Valley of the Kings. Here, the hidden tombs of the most significant pharaohs await your discovery, with names like Ramses III, Seti I, and Amenhotep II etched into history. Among these elaborate burial sites, you'll find intricate corridors and chambers that reveal the splendour of ancient Egypt.Our journey continues to the Colossi of Memnon, two imposing statues of Amenhotep III, standing as sentinels of history. You'll also marvel at the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut, nestled beneath dramatic cliffs at Deir el-Bahari, and the Temple of Medinet Habu, known for its well-preserved reliefs.As we sail along the picturesque Nile, you'll have the opportunity to indulge in various activities on board during the day. As the evening unfolds, enjoy music and lively ambiance at the ship's disco. With full board catering, spend the night on board as we navigate towards Esna.
Day 12 - Esna - Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan
Upon arriving in Edfu, we visit the Temple of Horus, symbolised by a falcon. Once buried under layers of silt from the Nile's seasonal flooding, the temple now stands magnificently restored, showcasing one of the finest representations of Ptolemaic architecture. We continue our journey, sailing to Kom Ombo, where we explore the unique temple dedicated to two deities, Sobek and Haroeris. Here, you'll find ancient relics such as a Nilometer, which historically measured the Nile's water levels, and a display of mummified crocodiles. This evening, take the opportunity to join the Chilaba party, where you can don traditional local attire, easily found in nearby markets. Enjoy full board and spend the night aboard as we make our way to Aswan.
Day 13 - Aswan
Our journey continues as we arrive in Aswan, a city brimming with history and wonder. Today, you have the option to explore Abu Simbel, though this excursion is not part of the standard itinerary. For those interested, Abu Simbel is located 280 kilometres from Aswan in the western desert. This site is renowned for its colossal statues, each 20 metres high, carved into the cliff by Ramses II in the 12th century BC. The temples are dedicated to Amon Ra and the goddess Hathor. Back on our guided tour, we'll visit the Red Granite quarry, home to the famed Unfinished Obelisk, which stands at an impressive 41 metres high. We'll also make our way to the Aswan High Dam, one of the largest of its kind, which led to the creation of Lake Nasser, stretching over 500 kilometres. Another highlight is the Temple of Philae, devoted to the goddess Isis, situated on a picturesque island accessible only by boat.In the afternoon, we embark on a relaxing felucca cruise along the Nile. These traditional sailing boats will take us to Kitchener Island, where you can explore the serene Botanical Garden. Throughout the day, your meals are provided, and you'll enjoy accommodation on board, soaking in the magic of the Nile and its surroundings.
Day 14 - Aswan - Cairo
After enjoying breakfast, well organise your transfer to the airport for a flight back to Cairothis journey is included in your itinerary. On arrival at Cairo airport, we'll transfer you to your hotel, giving you ample time to settle in. In the evening, you have the opportunity to experience the spectacular Light and Sound Show at the Giza Pyramids, a mesmerising event that brings the ancient archeological site to life with vibrant colours and historical storytelling. Afterwards, you can relax at your accommodation.
Day 15 - Cairo
After enjoying breakfast, we will organise your transfer to the airport for your onward journey, marking the conclusion of our services.
