Day 1 - Amman
Upon your arrival at Amman airport, welcome to Jordan! After completing border procedures, you will be transferred to your hotel. Once you have settled in, enjoy free time to begin exploring this vibrant city at your leisure. This initial day allows you to acclimate and perhaps get a first taste of Amman's rich culture, history, and cuisine. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman
Following breakfast, we'll journey north of Amman to explore the mountainous region of Jordan. Our first stop is the 12th-century Ajlun Fortress, a significant historical site constructed during the reign of the Ayyubid dynasty to ward off Crusader incursions. This area has seen a harmonious coexistence between Muslims and Orthodox Christians for centuries. Here, we'll visit the ancient Church of Saint Sergius. Lunch is included, allowing you to enjoy local cuisine before we continue to the remarkable ancient city of Jerash. Known for its well-preserved Roman ruins, Jerash offers a glimpse into the grandeur of the past with its majestic columns and well-preserved monuments. After our exploration, we will return to Amman, where you'll have the evening to settle in and unwind.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Amman
Today, we'll embark on a journey to explore the magnificent Desert Castles, constructed between the 7th and 8th centuries. Our first stop is the impressive Qasr Kharana, known for its thick-walled structure. We then proceed to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qusayr Amra, celebrated for its extraordinary frescoes. Following this, we'll travel to Madaba, where lunch is provided. In Madaba, we visit the Archaeological Park, stepping back in time as we walk along an ancient Roman road. Our exploration continues at the Church of St. George, home to the famed 6th-century mosaic that depicts the oldest known map of the Holy Land. Our final visit for the day takes us to Mount Nebo, where Moses is believed to have gazed over the Promised Land. After a day filled with historical insights, we return to Amman, where you'll have free time to unwind.
Day 4 - Amman - Bethany - Dead Sea
Today, we journey to Bethany, located along the banks of the River Jordan and honoured as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This significant location is celebrated as the place where John the Baptist famously baptised Jesus. Next, we'll visit the Dead Sea Museum, featuring an impressive complex that offers panoramic views of the area. After lunch, which is included, we make our way to our hotel by the Dead Sea. Take advantage of this opportunity to float in the world's saltiest body of water, situated at the planet's lowest altitude. Both dinner and accommodation are included for your comfort and enjoyment.
Day 5 - Dead Sea - Shoubak - Petra
Today's journey leads us into the heart of Jordan as we embark on a captivating drive along the historic King's Road, a route steeped in biblical history and the legacy of the Moab Kingdom. Our first highlight is the remarkable Karak Castle, an enduring example of 12th-century military architecture. Entrenched in history, this imposing fortress once served as a pivotal stronghold between Jerusalem and Aqaba. After exploring Karak, we make our way to Dana, a charming village nestled atop a dramatic cliff, renowned for its picturesque stone houses. Here, we'll pause to savour a delightful lunch. Continuing our adventure, we follow the King's Route to Shoubak, where we'll capture the grandeur of the Crusader Castle in photographs (outside view only). Our journey then carries us to Wadi Musa, the modern-day settlement that serves as the gateway to Petra. We will visit the Moses Spring, a legendary site where Moses is believed to have struck a rock with his staff to draw water. Following this, we will delve into the Petra Museum, a treasure trove of artefacts that illuminate the history of the Nabateans and showcase exquisite finds from the area.The evening brings dinner and accommodation, with optional activities available for those interested. You can enjoy an invigorating visit to an old Turkish bath or experience a mesmerising light and sound show in Petra.
Day 6 - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today promises to be the highlight of our journey as we begin by exploring the awe-inspiring archaeological site of Petra. Accessible via a narrow canyon, this ancient cityfounded more than 2,000 years agoboasts breathtaking temples and tombs carved directly into the rose-red cliffs. After enjoying a lunch provided for you, we'll set off for the mesmerising desert landscape of Wadi Rum. At the Visitor Centre, we'll board 4x4 vehicles to traverse this stunning terrain, followed by a 45-minute camel ride through the sand dunes, offering a unique perspective of the desert. We'll also visit Khazali Canyon, where you can admire the ancient engravings tracing the development of the Arabic language. Dinner and a night's accommodation in a desert camp are included, providing an unforgettable experience under the stars.
Day 7 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba
Following breakfast, we set off for Aqaba, Jordans second-largest cityan important modern, commercial port. Once weve arrived, the afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure. You might like to soak up the sun and savour the amenities of your resort, or take a dip in the inviting waters of the Red Sea.
Day 8 - Aqaba - Amman - Cairo
Following breakfast, we embark on a journey along "the desert road" to Amman airport. Upon arrival, we catch a flight to Egypt, which takes just over an hour. Once in Cairo, you'll complete border formalities and be transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax or explore this vibrant city at your leisure. Please note: Depending on the number of travellers, the transfer from Aqaba to Amman airport may be on a regular VIP coach.
Day 9 - Cairo
Today, we delve into the mesmerising history of ancient Egypt with a full day of exploration in Cairo. We begin with a visit to the iconic Pyramids of Cheops, Kefren, and Micerinos, architectural wonders that have intrigued travellers for centuries. While tickets to explore the interiors are not included, admiring their grandeur from the outside is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Nearby, we also encounter the enigmatic Great Sphinx, a colossal statue carved directly from limestone.Next, we explore the Egyptian Museum, home to an extensive collection of ancient artefacts, including the remarkable treasures from Tutankhamen's tomb. After enjoying an included lunch, we proceed to the Citadel of Saladin. This medieval fortress offers breathtaking views of the city and houses the splendid Alabaster Mosque.We then stroll through the historic Coptic neighbourhood, where we visit the Hanging Church. This iconic site, also known as the Saint Virgin Mary's Coptic Orthodox Church, is suspended above a Roman fortress, offering a unique glimpse into Cairo's rich religious tapestry. Throughout the day, immerse yourself in the enduring legacy of one of the world's greatest civilisations.
Day 10 - Cairo
After enjoying breakfast, we will arrange your transfer to the airport, bringing our services to a conclusion. Safe travels!
