Day 1 - Amman
Upon your arrival at Amman Airport, we extend a warm welcome to Jordan! Following completion of border formalities, you will be transferred to your hotel. Once settled, you have the rest of the day free to relax or explore as you wish, immersing yourself in the vibrant atmosphere of this fascinating city. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman
Following breakfast on our second day, we venture north of Amman to explore the verdant highlands of Jordan where the AJLUN FORTRESS awaits. This imposing 12th-century castle provides a fascinating insight into the region's historical significance, with its construction during a period when Muslims and Orthodox Christians cohabited in the area. We will also visit the ancient CHURCH OF SAINT SERGIUS, a place where many gather to contemplate peace. Our journey includes lunch before continuing to JERASH, home to one of the most impressive and well-preserved Roman archaeological sites in the world. After taking in the grandeur of these ancient ruins, we return to Amman to conclude our explorations for the day and arrange for the night's accommodation.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Amman
We set off to explore the enchanting Desert Castles, dating back to the 7th and 8th centuries. Our journey takes us first to Qasr Kharana, admired for its formidable structure and thick walls. We then visit the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qusayr Amra, renowned for its exquisite frescoes. Following this, we head to Madaba, where lunch is part of our schedule. In Madaba, we explore the Madaba Archaeological Park, traversing an ancient Roman road, and marvel at the Church of St. George, famed for its remarkable 6th-century mosaic map of the Holy Land. Our next stop is Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have glanced over the Promised Land. We then return to Amman, where you have free time to relax and explore.
Day 4 - Amman - Bethany - Dead Sea
On day four, we embark on a journey to Bethany, situated along the banks of the River Jordan. This UNESCO World Heritage Site holds great historical significance as the location where John the Baptist baptised Jesus. Following this, we head to the Dead Sea Museum, an impressive complex offering panoramic views. Lunch is provided as part of your day. We then proceed to our hotel at the Dead Sea, where you wont want to miss the extraordinary experience of floating in the saltiest body of water on Earth, located at the planet's lowest land elevation. The day concludes with dinner and accommodation at the hotel, ensuring a restful night.
Day 5 - Dead Sea - Shoubak - Petra
We set off on an exhilarating journey deep into the heart of Jordan. Our day begins with an ascent along the historic Kings Road, renowned for its biblical connections to the ancient Moab Kingdom. Our first stop is the spectacular Karak Castle, a grand example of 12th-century military architecture that became a pivotal stronghold between Jerusalem and Aqaba. After exploring Karak, we arrive at Dana, a charming village known for its beautiful stone houses perched dramatically on a cliff a perfect spot for our included lunch. Continuing along the Kings Route, we pause at Shoubak for some breathtaking photographs of the imposing Crusader Castle from the outside. Our adventure leads us to Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra, where we explore Moses Spring, a site linked to the miracle of water from the rock. The day concludes with a visit to the Petra Museum, offering fascinating insights into Nabataean history and showcasing a variety of stunning artefacts. Dinner and accommodation are included, and there's the option for you to unwind at a traditional Turkish bath or attend a light and sound show in Petra.
Day 6 - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today promises to be the most exhilarating day of our journey. We begin by exploring the awe-inspiring archaeological site of Petra, approached through a narrow gorge. Here, we marvel at the ancient temples and tombs intricately carved into the cliffs of a city established over 2,300 years ago. Following an included lunch, we set off to the breathtaking desert landscape of Wadi Rum. At the Visitor Centre, we board 4x4 vehicles, ready to immerse ourselves in the stunning scenery. A 45-minute camel ride through the desert adds an exciting touch to our adventure. The day's explorations take us to the Khazali Canyon, where we observe fascinating engravings that chronicle the beginnings of the Arabic script. Our day concludes with dinner and overnight accommodation in a desert camp, surrounded by the enchanting backdrop of Wadi Rum.
Day 7 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba - Eilat - Saint Catherine
After enjoying breakfast, we set off for Aqaba, Jordan's vibrant second city nestled by the Red Sea. Here, we explore the city centre, taking in its lively atmosphere before heading towards the Israeli border. Crossing into Israel, we arrive in Eilat, a modern coastal destination renowned for its stunning beaches. There will be leisure time to relax, enjoy lunch, or perhaps take a refreshing swim. Following this, we proceed to the Egyptian border, entering the Sinai Peninsula. En route, we have the opportunity to photograph the picturesque Pharaoh's Island, famed for its impressive fortress of Saladin. Our journey continues to Saint Catherine, where we arrive for an included dinner and accommodation. Please note, border crossings between Jordan and Israel, and Israel and Egypt, incur entry and exit fees, which are subject to change by the local authorities. Also, professional camera equipment is prohibited at these borders. In exceptional circumstances or if participant numbers are low, we may travel directly from Jordan to Egypt via the Aqaba-Taba ferry, a journey of just over two hours; during which, guide assistance will not be available.
Day 8 - Saint Catherine - The Well of Moses - Cairo
Today, we find ourselves at the base of Mount Sinai, visiting the remarkable Saint Catherine's Monastery. According to tradition, this monastery is famously recognised as the location where Moses encountered the "Burning Bush" that burned without being consumed. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, it holds sacred significance for Jews, Christians, and Muslims alike and is under the stewardship of the Orthodox Church. After exploring this historically significant site, we continue our journey through the captivating landscapes of the Sinai Desert. En route, we enjoy lunch before making a brief stop at the Well of Moses, a biblical spot resembling a tranquil oasis. Our travels then take us through the tunnel beneath the Suez Canal, leading us to our arrival in Cairo by late afternoon, where we will settle in for the evening.
Day 9 - Cairo
We embark on a full-day exploration of Cairo. Our journey begins with the renowned Pyramids of Cheops, Kefren, and Menkaureplease note that entry into the pyramids is not included. These architectural marvels are accompanied by the imposing Great Sphinx, magnificently carved from rock. We then head to the Egyptian Museum, which houses an exceptional collection of ancient artefacts, including the treasures from the tomb of Tutankhamun. After enjoying an included lunch, we make our way to the Citadel of Saladin, a historic fortress offering panoramic views of the city, alongside the stunning Alabaster Mosque. Our day continues with a stroll through the Coptic Quarter, where we visit the Hanging Church, uniquely positioned above an ancient Roman fortress.
Day 10 - Cairo
Following breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport, marking the conclusion of our services and your journey. Safe travels!
