Day 1 - Amman
Upon your arrival at Amman airport, welcome to the captivating country of Jordan! After completing border formalities, we will transfer you to your hotel. Once settled, you'll have some free time to begin exploring Amman at your own pace, perhaps taking in the sights or relaxing after your journey. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman
Following breakfast, we head north from Amman to explore the rugged mountains of northern Jordan. Our first stop is the historic Ajlun Fortress, a formidable edifice dating back to the 12th century. This atmospheric castle stands as a testament to the rich history of a region where Muslims and Orthodox Christians have coexisted for centuries. We also visit the ancient Church of Saint Sergius, providing a moment for quiet reflection and perhaps a prayer for peace. Lunch is included, offering a taste of local cuisine.Our journey continues to Jerash, home to one of the most impressive and well-preserved Roman archaeological sites in the region. As we wander through its ancient streets and stunning ruins, we gain insight into the grandiosity of the Roman Empire and its far-reaching influence. After immersing ourselves in Jerash's history, we return to Amman where you'll have the evening to relax and reflect on the day's memorable experiences.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Amman
We set off to explore the Desert Castles, stunning examples of Islamic architecture built during the 7th and 8th centuries. Our first stop is Qasr Kharana, known for its impressive, fortified structure, followed by the World Heritage Site of Qusayr Amra, famous for its exceptional frescoes. Our journey continues to Madaba, where lunch is included. Here, we visit the Madaba Archaeological Park, traversing an ancient Roman road, and the Church of St. George, home to a remarkable 6th-century mosaicthe oldest known map of the Holy Land. We then make our way to Mount Nebo, the revered site where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. Our day culminates with our return to Amman, where you'll have some free time to relax or explore the city at your leisure.
Day 4 - Amman - Bethany - Dead Sea
On our fourth day, we journey to Bethany, located along the banks of the River Jordan. This area, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, holds significant historical importance, being the location where John the Baptist is said to have baptised Jesus. Next, we visit the Dead Sea Museum, part of an impressive Panorama Complex. Lunch is included today. Upon arrival at our hotel by the Dead Sea, be sure to experience the unique sensation of floating in the world's saltiest body of water, which also lies at the earth's lowest elevation. The day concludes with dinner provided at our accommodation.
Day 5 - Dead Sea - Shoubak - Petra
Today, we venture into the heart of Jordan, travelling along the historic King's Road, an ancient route with links to the biblical Kingdom of Moab. Our first stop is Karak Castle, a splendid 12th-century fortress renowned for its military architecture and strategic importance between Jerusalem and Aqaba. Admission is included, allowing us to explore its impressive features.Our journey continues to the scenic village of Dana, a charming cluster of stone houses perched on a dramatic cliff, where lunch is provided. We stay on the King's Road as we head towards Shoubak, pausing to capture photographs of the impressive Crusader Castle from the outside.Our day concludes in Wadi Musa, the gateway to Petra, where we'll visit Moses Spring. The spring is steeped in legend, believed to be where Moses struck a rock with his staff, bringing forth water. We also explore the Petra Museum, offering a fascinating insight into Nabatean history and showcasing remarkable artefacts unearthed in the region. Dinner is included, along with accommodation, and for those interested, optional visits to a traditional Turkish bath or a captivating light and sound show in Petra are available.
Day 6 - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today marks the highlight of our journey as we delve into the remarkable archaeological site of Petra. Approaching through a narrow gorge, we'll discover awe-inspiring temples and tombs hewn into the cliffs of this ancient city, established over 300 years before Christ. After an included lunch, we journey onwards to the breathtaking desert of Wadi Rum. At the Visitor Centre, we'll hop into 4x4 vehicles to explore the stunning landscape, followed by a 45-minute camel ride across the desert expanses. During our visit to the Khazali Canyon, we'll see ancient rock engravings shedding light on the origins of the Arabic language. Our day concludes with an included dinner and an unforgettable overnight stay in a desert camp.
Day 7 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba
Following breakfast, we depart for Aqaba, Jordans vibrant second city. This dynamic, commercial port city offers a blend of modernity and tradition. The afternoon is yours to enjoy at leisure, either relaxing at the hotel resort or taking a dip in the inviting waters of the Red Sea.
Day 8 - Aqaba - Amman
Following breakfast, we set off along the "desert road" towards Amman. Upon arrival at Amman airport, our services conclude here. Kindly verify your flight schedule, as an additional night in Amman might be required. Please note that, depending on the number of travellers, the journey between Aqaba and Amman may be conducted in a regular VIP coach. Safe travels!
