Day 1 - Amman
Upon your arrival at Amman airport, you will be warmly welcomed to Jordan. After completing border procedures, we will transfer you to your hotel where you can enjoy some free time at your leisure. This will allow you to relax and settle into your surroundings in preparation for the journey ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amman - Jerash - Amman
Following breakfast, we set off for northern Jordan to explore the impressive Ajlun Fortress, a 12th-century castle nestled in the mountains. This area boasts a rich history of coexistence between Muslims and Orthodox Christians. We visit the ancient Church of Saint Sergius, a site that embodies the enduring spirit of peace. Lunch is provided as part of our journey. We then make our way to Jerash, home to a remarkable Roman archaeological site, before returning to Amman for the evening. Upon arrival, you can check into your accommodation and relax at your leisure.
Day 3 - Amman - Madaba - Amman
We set off this morning to explore the Desert Castles, impressive structures built between the 7th and 8th centuries. Our journey takes us to Qasr Kharana, renowned for its formidable thick walls, and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Qusayr Amra, famous for its striking frescoes. Next, we travel to Madaba, where lunch is included. In Madaba, we'll visit the Madaba Archaeological Park, traversing a path lined with ancient Roman roads. You will also see the Church of St. George, which houses a splendid 6th-century mosaic the oldest known map of the Holy Land. Our next stop is Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have paused to gaze upon the Promised Land. We then return to Amman, where you will have free time to enjoy at your leisure.
Day 4 - Amman - Bethany - Dead Sea
Today, we embark on a journey to Bethany, a UNESCO World Heritage Site beautifully situated on the banks of the River Jordan. This historic spot is revered as the place where John the Baptist baptised Jesus, offering a moment for reflection amidst its serene surroundings. Following this, we will explore the Dead Sea Museum, home to an impressive Panorama Complex that provides a deeper insight into this unique region. Lunch is included in our day's plan. Our next destination is our hotel by the Dead Sea, famed for being the saltiest sea on Earth and the point of lowest altitude. Here, you'll have the chance to float effortlessly in its mineral-rich watersa truly unique experience. Dinner and accommodation are both included in your stay, ensuring a relaxing end to a day of exploration.
Day 5 - Dead Sea - Shoubak - Petra
Today, we embark on an enthralling journey through the heart of Jordan, heading along the historic Kings Road, renowned for its connection to the biblical Moab Kingdom. Our first stop is the impressive Karak Castle, a superb example of 12th-century military architecture. Strategically significant, this fortress was once a formidable stronghold between Jerusalem and Aqaba. We then arrive at Dana, a charming village made of stone houses perched atop a dramatic cliff, where we are treated to an included lunch.Continuing our journey along the Kings Route, we make a brief stop at Shoubak, where you can capture the grandeur of the mighty Crusader Castle from the outside. Our adventure proceeds to Wadi Musa, the township surrounding the famed archaeological site of Petra. Here, we explore the Moses Springwhere legend tells of Moses striking a rock to conjure waterbefore visiting the Petra Museum. This museum offers fascinating insights into Nabatean history and showcases exquisite artefacts unearthed in the region. Dinner and accommodation are provided, and for those with energy to spare, optional activities await, including a traditional Turkish bath or a mesmerising light and sound show at Petra.
Day 6 - Petra - Wadi Rum
Today promises to be the highlight of our journey. We begin with a visit to the remarkable archaeological site of Petra, entering through a narrow canyon to reveal the temples and tombs intricately carved into the cliffs of this city, which was established 300 years before Christ. Following our included lunch, we head to the stunning desert landscape of Wadi Rum. At the Visitor Centre, we board 4x4 vehicles to explore some of the area's most captivating scenery. Our adventure continues with a 45-minute camel ride through the desert and a visit to Khazali Canyon, where ancient engravings provide a glimpse into the origins of the Arabic language. We'll conclude this incredible day with dinner and accommodation amidst the charming surroundings of a desert camp.
Day 7 - Wadi Rum - Aqaba - Eilat - Saint Catherine
After breakfast, we set off for Aqaba, Jordans second city, beautifully situated on the Red Sea's coast. We will explore the vibrant city centre before heading to the Israeli border, reaching the modern, touristic city of Eilat, renowned for its stunning beaches and inviting waters. You'll have time to relax, enjoy lunch, and perhaps have a swim or explore the citys attractions at your leisure. Our journey continues towards the Egyptian border, heading into the Sinai Peninsula. Along the way, there will be opportunities to photograph Pharaohs Island and its formidable Saladin fortress. We proceed to Saint Catherine, where accommodation and dinner are included. Please keep in mind that crossing the borders from Jordan to Israel and then Egypt incurs entry/exit fees: $15 for Jordan, $32 for Israel, and $45 for Egypt (comprising a $25 visa fee and a $20 fee). These fees are subject to change without prior notice. Also, noteworthy is the prohibition of drones and professional cameras with a zoom of 5.5 metres or more. In exceptional circumstances or if the group is small, we may cross directly from Jordan to Egypt via the Aqaba-Taba ferry, which takes just over two hours please note that there will be no guide assistance during this ferry crossing.
Day 8 - Saint Catherine - The Well of Moses - Cairo
Today, we begin our journey at the foot of Mount Sinai with a visit to the remarkable Saint Catherine's Monastery. This revered site is where Moses is said to have witnessed the famous "Burning Bush" that was not consumed by the flames. A sacred place for Jews, Christians, and Muslims, this monastery belongs to the Orthodox Church and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Our adventure continues through the scenic landscapes of the Sinai Desert as we make our way towards our next destination. We will pause for lunch along the route. Along the way, we will also stop at the Well of Moses, a biblical site resembling a small oasis. Our route then takes us through the tunnel beneath the Suez Canal, leading us out of the Sinai. By the end of the afternoon, we will arrive in Cairo, where accommodation awaits us.
Day 9 - Cairo
In Cairo, we embark on a full-day exploration of some of Egypts most iconic sights. Our journey begins with a visit to the world-renowned Pyramids of Cheops, Kefren, and Micerinos, though entry into the pyramids themselves is not included. Nearby, we marvel at the imposing Sphinx, carved intricately from the bedrock. The day continues at the Egyptian Museum, a treasure trove of ancient artefacts, including the magnificent treasures from Tutankhamuns tomb. Following lunch, we move on to the historic Citadel of Saladin, where youll encounter the stunning Alabaster Mosque. Well then stroll through Cairo's Coptic neighbourhood, visiting the Hanging Church, an awe-inspiring structure built above a Roman fortress.
Day 10 - Cairo - Luxor
After breakfast, we will transfer you from your hotel in Cairo to the airport for a flight to Luxor, which is included in your travel package. Upon arrival in Luxor, you'll be transferred to your Nile cruise ship, where you will board and settle into your accommodation. The cruise includes full board, ensuring you are well-catered for during your journey. Today, we embark on an awe-inspiring visit to the magnificent temples of Luxor and Karnak. These sites, rich in history and architectural grandeur, offer a glimpse into the ancient civilisation of Egypt. You will spend the night on board the cruise ship, allowing you to continue your exploration of the Nile in comfort.
Day 11 - Luxor - Esna
Today, immerse yourself in the grandeur of ancient Egypt as we explore the Necropolis of Thebes. You'll visit the renowned Valley of the Kings, where the tombs of illustrious pharaohs like Ramses III, Seti I, and Amenhotep II lie concealed in a network of rooms and corridors leading to their burial chambers. We also take in the awe-inspiring Colossi of Memnon, towering statues representing Amenhotep III, and marvel at the impressive Temple of Queen Hatshepsut at Deir el-Bahari, along with the Temple of Medinet Habu.Throughout the day, you can soak up the stunning vistas along the Nile's banks. Various activities aboard the cruise ship are available for you to enjoy, concluding with an evening of music at the onboard disco. You will enjoy full board during this leg of your journey, and overnight accommodation as we navigate towards Esna.
Day 12 - Esna - Edfu - Kom Ombo - Aswan
Upon arrival in Edfu, we will explore the Temple of Horus, magnificently represented by the falcon god. This temple, once buried during the Nile's annual floods, has been meticulously restored and stands as one of the most splendid examples from the Ptolemaic era. Next, we proceed to Kom Ombo, where we will visit the unique temple dedicated to both Sobek and Haroeris. Here, you'll find a fascinating Nilometer, once used to measure the river's water level, and a museum housing mummified crocodiles. This evening, indulge in a lively Chilaba party on board, where you can dress in a traditional outfit sourced from local markets. Full board is provided as we continue our journey towards Aswan, with accommodation onboard.
Day 13 - Aswan
Upon reaching Aswan, there is an opportunity for an optional excursion to Abu Simbel, though it is not part of the main itinerary. Abu Simbel lies 280 kilometres from Aswan in the western desert and is home to the magnificent temples carved into the cliffs by Ramses II in the 13th century BC. These include statues standing 20 metres high dedicated to the god Amun Ra, and the Temple of Nefertari, devoted to the goddess Hathor. We will visit the renowned Red Granite Quarry, where the famous 41-metre-tall Unfinished Obelisk is located. Our exploration continues with a visit to the impressive Aswan Dam, one of the worlds largest, which led to the creation of Lake Nasser, stretching over 500 kilometres. We will also make our way to the enchanting Philae Temple, dedicated to the goddess Isis, situated on a small island accessible only by boat. In the afternoon, enjoy a delightful felucca cruise along the Nile, these are traditional local sailing boats, heading towards the picturesque Kitchener Island where the vibrant Botanical Garden awaits. Your meals and accommodation will be on board the cruise.
Day 14 - Aswan - Cairo
After enjoying breakfast, we will transfer you to the airport for a flight back to Cairo, which is included in the itinerary. Upon arriving at Cairo airport, another transfer awaits to take you to your hotel. In the evening, immerse yourself in the captivating Light and Sound Show at the Giza Pyramids, a unique opportunity to experience these world-famous monuments in a different light. Accommodation in Cairo is provided, ensuring you a restful night after your magical evening.
Day 15 - Cairo
Following breakfast, we will arrange your transfer to the airport, marking the conclusion of our services. Safe travels!
