Day 1 - Rome
Upon your arrival in the captivating city of Rome, we will ensure your seamless transfer to the hotel where you'll meet our guide. The guide will provide you with all the vital information to kick-start your journey, and youll also find these details conveniently displayed on the hotels information board. In the evening, we'll introduce you to the vibrant atmosphere of Via Cavour. Famous for its diverse culinary offerings, this bustling street presents an ideal opportunity to sample a variety of cuisines, from traditional Italian dishes to Indian and Chinese flavours, along with other international delights. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Rome
On the second day, we delve into the heart of Rome with a guided exploration of this historic city, famously known as the Eternal City. Our morning begins with a three-hour tour that expertly combines a panoramic bus ride and a walking tour through the imperial highlights of Rome. We'll visit renowned sites including the Arch of Constantine, the exterior of the Colosseum, the grandeur of the Imperial Forums, and the sweeping Circus Maximus. Other significant landmarks on our itinerary include the Baths of Caracalla, the magnificent Basilica of Saint Mary Major, the ancient Pyramid of Cestius, and the imposing Castel Sant'Angelo, each providing a glimpse into Romes rich past.By approximately 11:00 a.m., our tour will conclude at Vatican City. Here, our guide will present you with the optional opportunity to admire the Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel, home to some of the world's most exquisite artworks. As the day draws to a close, we offer a transfer to Rome's vibrant Trastevere neighbourhood. Known for its charming restaurants and lively character, Trastevere is the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy some of Italy's finest culinary offerings. We will return you to your hotel at around 8:30 p.m.
Day 3 - Rome - Florence
Today, we depart Rome, heading northwards through the delightful and picturesque Italian countryside. Our destination is Florence, where we arrive at the remarkable Piazzale Michelangelo. Here, you can take in the sweeping vistas of this beautiful city, renowned for its rich history and culture. Following our initial introduction to Florence, well head towards the heart of the historic centre. There will be time for you to enjoy lunch at your leisure, amidst the charming scenery. Subsequently, our local expert will guide us on a walking tour through the historic heart of the city, where we will explore iconic landmarks including the Ponte Vecchio, the Duomo, and the lively Piazza della Signoria. Florence is often described as an open-air museum, thanks to its abundance of significant art and architecture.After the tour, youll have some free time to further explore Florence at your own pace. In the evening, the vibrant city streets brim with dining options offering delightful cuisines from around the world, ensuring you have a diverse array of choices for dinner.
Day 4 - Florence - Venice
As we traverse the breathtaking Apennine Mountains today, we will arrive in Venice, renowned for its enchanting canals and vibrant history. Our journey begins with a boat ride across the Giudecca Canal, offering panoramic views as we approach the city. Once on the Island of Venice, well explore the magnificent St. Marks Square with a knowledgeable local guide. Next, we visit the famous Murano Glass Factory to witness the captivating glass-making techniques that have been preserved through the ages. Following this, the afternoon is yours to wander and discover Venices charms at your own pace. Our accommodation for the night will be in the Mestre district.
Day 5 - Venice - Innsbruck - Zurich
On Day 5, we depart from Venice and set off towards the picturesque landscapes of Austria. Our first stop for the day is the historic town of Innsbruck, nestled in the heart of the Austrian Alps. You will have the opportunity to explore Innsbruck's charming centre and perhaps enjoy a leisurely lunch in its beautiful surroundings. After our visit to Innsbruck, we continue our journey through the scenic Tyrolean region, crossing into Switzerland's stunning landscapes. Our destination for the day is Zurich, where we arrive in the evening. This journey offers a magnificent backdrop of mountainous vistas and lush valleys, providing a truly memorable travel day.
Day 6 - Zurich - Lucerne - Zurich
Today, we venture into the breathtaking landscapes of Switzerland, with its towering mountains and crystalline lakes. Our journey begins in the stunning region of Interlaken. We first stop in the quaint town of Grindelwald, offering a moment for a coffee break. From here, a cable car ride whisks us up the mountain, where you'll find a charming path that leads to a dramatic suspended bridge. For those seeking a bit of adventure, crossing the bridge reveals spectacular views of glaciers that are nothing short of awe-inspiring. We'll savour lunch amid this alpine splendour before descending back down.Our next destination is the picturesque city of Lucerne, renowned for its beautiful setting and charming architectural heritage. You'll have time to leisurely wander and soak up the atmosphere of one of Switzerland's most enchanting cities. Later, we'll make our return to Zurich.For those interested, there's an optional full-day excursion available. This includes more free time in Lucerne, and then we'll ascend Mount Titlis in a rotating cable car. Standing over 3,000 metres above sea level, Mount Titlis offers unparalleled vistas of the glacier and the majestic Alps.
Day 7 - Zurich - Strasbourg - Paris
Departing from Zurich, we'll journey first to the charming region of Alsace in France, where we'll explore its captivating capital, Strasbourg. This unique city offers a delightful blend of French and German influences, evident in its stunning architecture and vibrant culture. You'll have time to wander through the picturesque streets and enjoy the local atmosphere. Later, we'll continue our travels to Paris, arriving by evening. Embrace the allure of the French capital as you settle in for a night surrounded by its iconic landmarks and lively ambience.
Day 8 - Paris
Today, we'll delve into the rich history of France with a visit to the splendid Palace of Versailles, famed for its breathtaking gardens. Please note that admission is not included. After our return to Paris, we'll explore Montmartre, a quaint, bohemian quarter celebrated for its artists, painters, and cabarets. To truly appreciate the magnificence of Paris, we'll embark on a panoramic city tour led by a local guide, showcasing the city's grand boulevards and iconic landmarks. After our tour, we'll return to the hotel. If you're interested, there's an optional variety show available in the evening.
Day 9 - Paris - Rouen
Today, we begin our day in the heart of Paris with a visit to the iconic Eiffel Tower, where tickets to ascend to the second floor are included, offering spectacular views of the city. Following this, well enjoy a leisurely boat cruise along the Seine, providing a unique perspective on the gems of Paris. Youll have the afternoon free to explore this vibrant city at your own pace perhaps visiting a museum or simply strolling along the charming streets. In the late afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., we'll depart for Normandy and head towards Rouen. Upon arrival, youll have some free time to explore the historic centre of this remarkable city, rich with medieval architecture and history dating back to Roman times. Its Gothic cathedral stands as an impressive testament to its past. Immerse yourself in the cultural blend that Rouen offers before settling in for the evening. Please note that if wait times at the Eiffel Tower are excessive, we might adjust our schedule to ensure a smooth experience, possibly moving your visit to another time (or on Sunday).
Day 10 - Rouen - English Channel - Canterbury - London
Today, you'll have the opportunity to explore the heart of Rouen with a morning stroll through its historic centre. After enjoying the sights, we'll set off for northern France. Our next adventure involves crossing the English Channel by ferry, leading us to Canterbury. Known as the religious capital of England, Canterbury boasts a charming historic centre that you'll have time to explore once we arrive. Continuing our journey, we'll head to London, where you can enjoy some leisure time around the iconic Tower Bridge area. This is an excellent spot to soak in the sights before we make our way to the hotel for the evening.
Day 11 - London
Today, immerse yourself in the vibrant tapestry of London on a captivating panoramic city tour led by a local guide. As we traverse the city, you'll encounter iconic landmarks such as the Palace of Westminster, the majestic River Thames, and the stately Buckingham Palace where you might catch the celebrated Changing of the Guard, subject to the day's schedule. As evening descends, we'll convene at a designated spot in the bustling Piccadilly area. From there, we'll embark on an engaging walk through the dynamic streets of Leicester Square, Soho, and Chinatown. These areas are famed for their energetic nightlife, renowned theatres, and diverse entertainment offerings. You'll have the liberty to choose a dining spot from an array of restaurants available in the area, before we make our way back to the hotel for the night.
Day 12 - London - Colchester - Colchester - Volendam Ferry
This morning, we will start our day with a visit to the British Museum, one of the oldest and most renowned museums in the world, featuring exhibits that reflect the diverse cultures across the globe. Post exploration, and after some free time, we'll head to Camdena lively district celebrated for its unique street market. Here, you can wander through stalls offering an array of eclectic items and perhaps enjoy lunch from one of the many delightful restaurants or food stands. In the late afternoon, around 4:00 p.m., we set off for Colchester, Englands oldest recorded town, where we will take a leisurely walk through its historic centre. As the day concludes, we'll continue to Harwich to board a ferry for an overnight journey to the Netherlands, resting in comfortable en suite cabins. Please note, should ferry cabin availability be limited, the plan may adapt with an alternative route to Amsterdam via a daytime ferry and a night in Antwerp, or possibly travelling by train or air.
Day 13 - Colchester - Volendam Ferry - Volendam - Amsterdam
By eight in the morning, we'll arrive in the Netherlands at Hoek van Holland and head to the charming fishing village of Volendam. Known for its picturesque setting, Volendam offers a glimpse into the traditional Dutch way of life. From there, we'll travel to Amsterdam and embark on a guided tour of the city. Here youll witness the iconic sights, including the famous windmills and the statue of Rembrandt, alongside the contemporary style of the South District. We'll also experience the historical art of diamond cutting at Museum Square. Our exploration ends with a leisurely walk through the bustling heart of Amsterdam, after which you'll have free time to explore the city at your own pace.
Day 14 - Amsterdam
