Day 1 - New Delhi - Delhi
Upon arrival in Delhi, the capital of India, a representative will meet you at the airport and escort you to your hotel. This city, rich in medieval history, has evolved dramatically over recent decades. Known for having been home to seven ancient cities, Delhi offers a striking blend of old and new. After checking in, we will visit the impressive Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India, renowned for its stunning architecture. To end the day, we suggest taking a rickshaw ride through the bustling, narrow streets of Old Delhi, offering a vivid glimpse into the citys vibrant street life before returning to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 2 - Delhi - Varanasi - Haldwani
After breakfast, we transfer you to the airport for your flight to Varanasi (flight not included). Known as one of the worlds oldest continuously inhabited cities, Varanasi centres around the Ghats lining the sacred Ganges River, where daily rituals and ceremonies take place from dawn until dusk. The citys narrow streets conceal nearly a thousand temples and shrines, reflecting its status as a major spiritual hub. Upon arrival, we transfer you to your hotel for check-in. Later, you will witness the evening Aarti ceremony on the Ghats, a moving ritual of light and prayer performed on the riverbank. Overnight in Varanasi.
Day 3 - Varanasi - Khajuraho
Rise early for a serene boat ride along the Ganges River, witnessing the city come to life at dawn. After returning to the hotel for breakfast, transfer to Varanasi airport for your flight to Khajuraho (flight not included). Once the capital of the Chandela dynasty, Khajuraho is renowned for its group of temples built over several centuries. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel before exploring the remaining 22 temples, many of which were damaged during invasions. Highlights include Kandariya Mahadev, Chaturbhuj, Paraswanath and Ghantai temples, celebrated for their intricate sculptures that blend human and divine forms. Overnight in Khajuraho.
Day 4 - Khajuraho - Orchha - Jhansi - Agra
After breakfast, we depart for Orchha, a medieval town renowned for its palaces and temples built by the Bundela rulers during the 16th and 17th centuries. Upon arrival, we explore key sites including Jehangir Mahal, constructed in the 17th century by Raja Bir Singh Ju Deo to mark Emperor Jehangirs visit. We also visit the Raja Mahal, notable for its simple exterior topped with cenotaphs and interiors decorated with religious murals. The temple of King Raja Ram is uniquea former palace converted into a temple where Rama is worshipped as a king. Later, we transfer to Jhansi railway station to board an evening train to Agra, arriving late at night. Agra, situated on the banks of the Yamuna River, is famed for its rich Mughal heritage and the iconic Taj Mahal. Overnight in Agra.
Day 5 - Agra
After breakfast, we take a short excursion to Sikandra to visit Akbars tomb, an important Mughal monument set in peaceful gardens. On the return journey, we stop at Itimad-ud-Daulahs tomb, often called the small Taj Mahal for its delicate white marble inlay work. Back in Agra, we spend the afternoon exploring Agra Fort, a striking red sandstone fortress that blends Islamic and Hindu architectural styles, built by Emperor Akbar. After the visit, we return to the hotel for the night.
Day 6 - Agra - Fatehpur Sikri - Jaipur
After breakfast, we visit the iconic Taj Mahal, built by Shah Jahan in 1630 as a mausoleum for his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This stunning white marble monument, crafted by 20,000 artisans from Persia, Turkey, France and Italy, took 17 years to complete and remains a masterpiece of Mughal architecture. Afterwards, we travel to Jaipur, stopping en route at Fatehpur Sikri the abandoned 16th-century city founded by Emperor Akbar. Here, we explore well-preserved buildings such as the Panch Mahal, the audience hall courtyard and the black-and-white chessboard floor, which offer a glimpse into the citys brief but fascinating history. We then continue to Jaipur, known as the Pink City for its distinctive terracotta-coloured walls and buildings, reflecting its long-standing tradition of hospitality. Upon arrival, we check in at the hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 7 - Jaipur
After breakfast, we travel by jeep to Amber Fort for a morning visit. This impressive fort features a palace of mirrors, a hall of public audience and beautifully maintained gardens, offering insight into the grandeur of royal life in earlier times. On the way, we pause briefly at Hawa Mahal, the Palace of the Winds, for photographs. In the afternoon, we visit the Maharajas City Palace, part museum and part residence of Jaipurs royal family. We then explore Jantar Mantar, an 18th-century astronomical observatory constructed from stone and marble, housing 17 large instruments, many still functional today. Overnight in Jaipur.
Day 8 - Jaipur - Delhi
After breakfast, we leave Jaipur and begin the journey back to Delhi. Upon arrival, you will check in to your chosen hotel and have the evening at your leisure. This is a great opportunity to relax and enjoy the hotels amenities or explore more of Delhis vibrant streets and cultural landmarks before the end of your trip. Overnight in Delhi.
Day 9 - Delhi
After breakfast, we transfer you to Delhi International Airport for your onward flight. This concludes your journey, with time to reflect on the diverse experiences youve enjoyed across northern India.
