Itinerary
Day 1 - Reykjavik
Welcome to Iceland! Upon arrival at the airport you will take a taxi transfer from Keflavík International airport to our hotel in Reykjavík. The remainder of the day is free for you to explore the capital.
Day 2 - Reykjavik sightseeing
We meet our guide at 09:00 am and set off to explore Reykjavík, the world’s northernmost capital. We learn about the city’s history while visiting landmarks such as Hallgrímskirkja, the University district, and the harbour, where fishing boats, mountain views, and the striking Harpa Concert Hall. Then we take a short drive out of town to Bessastaðir, the official residence of the President of Iceland. Although it is closed to visitors, it remains an important landmark.
After exploring the city we stop for lunch at an Icelandic restaurant, where a seasonal menu offers a taste of local flavours, guided by the chef and served by knowledgeable staff. Our final port of call today is Harpa where we enjoy the Volcano Express, a short film about Iceland’s volcanic nature.
Day 3 - West Iceland, Hot Springs, Waterfalls & Glaciers
Reykjavik - Húsafell. We leave Reykjavík this morning and travel west towards Borgarfjörður Valley, an area shaped by geothermal energy, rivers and ancient lava fields. Our first stop is Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful hot spring, where steam rises constantly from the earth.
Next, we visit the nearby waterfalls of Hraunfossar and Barnafoss. At Hraunfossar, clear spring water flows from beneath a lava field into the Hvítá River – a formation created by volcanic activity over a thousand years ago. A short walk upstream leads to Barnafoss, a narrow and fast-moving cascade that carries with it a local legend of tragedy.
Our journey continues to Húsafell, a peaceful area near the highlands. From here, we join the Into the Glacier tour – a guided adventure through a man-made ice tunnel inside Langjökull, Iceland’s second-largest glacier. Specially equipped vehicles take us up onto the ice, where we explore the glacier from within.
Day 4 - Hvammsvík Hot Springs & the Golden Circle
Húsafell - Geysir. Today begins with a visit to Hvammsvík Hot Springs, beautifully set in Hvalfjörður where geothermal pools meet the sea. After a relaxing soak, we continue to the Golden Circle.
Our first stop is Þingvellir National Park – a UNESCO World Heritage Site where Iceland’s parliament was established in 930 AD, the oldest in the world. The park also sits between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates, clearly visible in the surrounding landscape.
We then visit Laugarvatn Fontana to witness traditional rye bread baking using geothermal heat, followed by a tasting of the warm bread fresh from the ground. Our next stop is Friðheimar Geothermal Greenhouse and Horse Stables, where we learn about sustainable greenhouse farming and meet the friendly Icelandic horses. Before heading to our hotel, we stop at Gullfoss – one of Iceland’s most iconic waterfalls – and the nearby Geysir area, where the geyser Strokkur erupts every few minutes.
Day 5 - Exploring the South Coast
This morning we explore Iceland’s scenic South Shore, known for its waterfalls, open landscapes and volcanic coastline. We visit Seljalandsfoss, where it is possible to walk behind the curtain of water, and Skógafoss, one of Iceland’s most photographed waterfalls.
At Skógar Folk Museum, we discover a collection of more than 15,000 artefacts illustrating the history of farming, fishing and rural life in Iceland. The turf houses and traditional tools provide an authentic glimpse into the nation’s past.
Continuing east, we arrive at Reynisfjara’s black sand beach, famous for its dramatic basalt columns and sea stacks rising from the Atlantic. A short stop is made in the village of Vík before returning to Geysir for the night.
Day 6 - Reykjanes Peninsula & The Blue Lagoon
Geysir - Reykjavik. We begin the day at Kerið, a volcanic crater formed around 3,000 years ago. The crater is about 55 metres deep and features a small lake at its base, surrounded by vivid red volcanic slopes.
From here, we travel across the Reykjanes Peninsula, an area defined by geothermal and volcanic activity. Our first stop is the Blue Lagoon, Iceland’s world-famous geothermal spa. Relax in the striking blue-turquoise waters, rich in minerals and surrounded by a surreal lava landscape.
Afterwards, we explore more of the peninsula, visiting the Bridge Between Continents – a symbolic walkway spanning the rift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We then continue to Reykjanesviti, Iceland’s oldest lighthouse, offering sweeping views of the dramatic coastline. The day concludes at Gunnuhver, a geothermal area with boiling mud pools, fumaroles and vividly coloured rock formations that give it an otherworldly feel.
After a full day of exploration, we return to Reykjavík for our final evening in Iceland.
Day 7 - Reykjavik
Today our Icelandic experience comes to an end with included taxi transfer to Keflavik Airport.
