Day 1 - Athens
Upon arrival in Athens, our warm welcome awaits, and youll be taken to your hotel. Once settled, you have some free time to explore the city at your own pace. Later on, important details regarding the commencement of your tour can be found on the information boards located at the hotel reception. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Athens
On our second day in Athens, we will set off on an enlightening city tour, guided by a local expert. Our exploration begins with visits to iconic landmarks, including the Presidential Mansion and the Panathenaic Stadiumsite of the first modern Olympic Games. We will also pass by the National Library and the bustling squares in the heart of the city. Our journey continues through the vibrant new districts that sprang to life following the 2004 Olympic Games, culminating in a visit to the awe-inspiring Acropolis (please note that entry is not included). As evening falls, we will whisk you away to the historic neighbourhood of Plaka. Here, you can experience authentic Greek cuisine in its delightful tavernas and immerse yourself in the captivating folklore of Greece.
Day 3 - Athens - Athens - Rhodes Ferry
On the third day, you'll have the morning at leisure in Athens to explore the city's vibrant atmosphere, visit museums, indulge in retail therapy, or simply relax. In the afternoon, we'll make our way to Piraeus Port to board a night ferry with cruise-like facilities. Your accommodation for the evening will be in a comfortable double cabin, allowing you to enjoy a restful night on board as we sail onward.
Day 4 - Athens - Rhodes Ferry - Rhodes
After our early morning arrival in Rhodes, we will embark on an immersive city tour, exploring the notable walled citadel and the historic Old Town. Here, the blend of Greek, Roman, Byzantine, and various other cultural influences is evident, revealing the island's rich heritage. The afternoon is yours to make the most of this evocative setting at your own paceperhaps revisit a favoured site or discover a hidden gem among the ancient streets.
Day 5 - Rhodes - Heraklion
Today, we will embark on an excursion to uncover the treasures of Rhodes beyond its city limits. Our journey begins in Filerimos, perched on a hill and home to a serene monastery set against a backdrop of breathtaking landscapes. We continue to the charming village of Lindos, where you'll find the ancient fortress and Acropolis with its stunning sea views. Enjoy a leisurely exploration of its picturesque, whitewashed streets, relax on its inviting beaches, or perhaps experience a traditional donkey ride up to the Acropolis. After a refreshing lunch, we'll return to Rhodes city, granting you some free time to unwind in the afternoon. In the evening, we'll arrange your transfer to the airport for a flight to Crete. On arrival, we'll proceed to your hotel in Heraklion. Please note that direct flights between Rhodes and Crete can be infrequent and may sometimes be subject to changes, potentially taking place on Friday morning or including a stopover in Athens.
Day 6 - Heraklion
In the morning, we will set off along the island's western coast. Our first destination is Rethymno, a city steeped in Venetian heritage, renowned for its medieval castle and charming coastal allure. Next, we head to Chania, a city rich in history with its striking fortress and grand mansions. Throughout the ages, Chania has seen the influence of various powers including the Romans, Byzantines, Venetians, Genoese, Turks, Egyptians, and Greeks. By day's end, we will return to Heraklion, bringing a close to our exploration of Crete's captivating past.
Day 7 - Heraklion
Today, we set off on an exploration of the Palace of Knossos, a significant site revealing the Minoan culture that underpins Greek civilisation from four millennia ago. Our visit includes both the entrance fee and a guided tour. Following this ancient encounter, we travel through the island's mountainous terrain, heading south to the Libyan Sea where we reach Agia Galini. This picturesque town is characterised by narrow, winding streets, a quaint fishing port, and bustling taverns. You will have time to enjoy lunch and perhaps take a refreshing swim in the sea. As the day concludes, we return to Heraklion, the capital of Crete. Please note, from November to April, Agia Galini will be replaced by a visit to Matala, a town celebrated for its stunning beach and distinctive cliff landscapes dotted with carved caves.
Day 8 - Heraklion
We will continue our journey along Crete's eastern coast, beginning with a visit to Kritsa. In this quaint town, we will explore Panagia Kera, a 13th-century church famed for its stunning frescoesyour admission is included. We will then travel to the charming town of Agios Nikolaos, known for its natural harbour. Here, you will have time to wander at leisure and enjoy lunch by the water. Our day proceeds to Elounda, originally a city-state, which has transformed into a popular resort town. From there, we'll embark on a boat ride to the intriguing island of Spinalonga. This island is home to a robust Venetian fortress and was once a leper colony. After our exploration, we'll return by boat to Elounda and make our way back to Heraklion, where we will arrange your evening accommodation.
Day 9 - Heraklion - Santorini
In the morning, we'll catch an early high-speed ferry from Heraklion to Santorini, reaching the island between 9:00 and 10:00 a.m. Our journey begins with a bus trip through Santorini's enchanting landscapes, taking us to Oia. This picturesque town is famed for its whitewashed streets, awe-inspiring cliffside views, atmospheric castle ruins, and classic windmills. Here, youll have ample time to explore and savour lunch at your leisure. Following our exploration of Oia, well move on to Fira, Santorini's lively capital. During your free time, you might consider a boat trip to the hot springs or enjoy the spectacular sunset from the deck of a traditional Mediterranean boat.
Day 10 - Santorini - Mykonos
After breakfast, we'll embark on a ferry journey to Mykonos. Once we arrive, you'll be transferred to your hotel, allowing you to settle in and get comfortable. According to legend, Mykonos was the site of the epic battle between Zeus and the Titans, adding a touch of mythological intrigue to your visit. Following your arrival, you'll have the rest of the day to explore at your leisure. Meander through the island's charming narrow streets, discover the enchanting area known as Little Venice, or visit the iconic windmills that dot the landscape. It's a marvellous opportunity to soak in the unique vibe of this renowned Greek island.
Day 11 - Mykonos
After breakfast, you have a leisurely day at your disposal to enjoy the allure of Mykonos. We suggest a visit to the nearby island of Delos, a significant archaeological site reputed as the birthplace of Greek gods Apollo and Artemis. For those seeking relaxation, spend your day basking in the sun on the island's famous beaches, such as Paradise and Super Paradise. Whether you choose cultural exploration or beachside leisure, Mykonos promises an enchanting experience.
Day 12 - Mykonos - Athens
After a leisurely breakfast, we'll proceed to the port for a ferry journey back to Piraeus. Expect a late-night arrival at approximately 11:00 p.m. Please note, if you wish to extend your stay in Athens with additional nights, you'll need to arrange your own transfer from the port to your accommodation.
