Day 1 - Frankfurt
Upon arriving in Frankfurt, we will ensure a smooth transition to your hotel, allowing you some free time to settle in or explore at your own pace. In the afternoon, make sure to check the hotel reception board for further details about the commencement of our tour. Enjoy your first moments in this vibrant city, where history and modernity blend seamlessly, and prepare for the exciting journey ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Dortmund
Today, we embark on a delightful exploration of the Rhine and Moselle Valleys, regions rich in history and adorned with charming villages. Our day begins with a scenic cruise on the Rhine, taking us through its most picturesque section between Rdesheim and Sankt Goar. The views here are truly breathtaking. Next, we travel to the Moselle River and pause for lunch in Cochem, a quaint village nestled on the riverbank with an impressive castle towering above, which has stood for over a millennium. Continuing our journey, we make our way to Cologne, where you'll have time to visit the awe-inspiring Gothic cathedral. Once the tallest building in the world until the late 19th century, its towering spires are a sight to behold. After enjoying a leisurely stroll along the Rhine River or exploring the bustling city centre, we proceed to our hotel in Dortmund. Please note that during fairs or congresses, accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city.
Day 3 - Dortmund - Fairy Tale Route - Hannover
Today, we set off on an enchanting journey along the renowned Fairy Tale Route, inspired by the classic stories of the Brothers Grimm. Our first stop is Trendelburg, a charming village where you can explore a formidable medieval castle, home to the famed Rapunzel Tower, with entry included in your visit. As we continue, we traverse scenic roads and forests reminiscent of Hansel and Gretel's tale, leading us to Hxter. Here, you'll have the chance to enjoy lunch and visit Corvey Abbey, an impressive 9th-century monastery and UNESCO World Heritage Site, with admission included. Next, our travels take us to Polle, where the ruins of Cinderella's Castle await, entry included. Our day continues in Hamelin, known for the famous tale of The Pied Piper. Follow the mouse tracks through this storied town, and then we proceed to Hanover. Here, you'll have time to wander through the historic quarter near the old town hall before we settle for the evening. Please note, during fairs or conferences, accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city, and Corvey Abbey is closed from November to February.
Day 4 - Hannover - Goslar - Berlin
After a hearty breakfast, we set off for Goslar, a gem of a village known for its splendid wooden architecture, ancient fortifications, and charming squares. You'll have ample time to explore its scenic beauty. Next, we journey to Quedlinburg, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This town is famous for its well-preserved historic centre, featuring over 2,100 half-timbered houses. Noteworthy sights include the town hall and Collegiate Castle. Enjoy the opportunity to stroll through the streets and savour lunch at your leisure. Our day concludes with a drive to Berlin, where we plan to arrive in the evening.
Day 5 - Berlin
Today, delve into the vibrant atmosphere of Berlin, Germany's dynamic capital, with our guided panoramic tour. We will explore the historic heart of the city, visiting key sites such as Museum Island and the iconic Reichstag building. As we make our way through the city, you'll see the famous Brandenburg Gate, bustling shopping districts, and serene city parks. Our itinerary also includes poignant stops at the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, offering insights into significant chapters of German history. Later, you have the option to take an excursion to Potsdam, renowned for its impressive palaces, adding a touch of grandeur to your experience.
Day 6 - Berlin - Copenhagen
On the sixth day of our journey, you have some free time to explore Berlin at your own pace. At 11:30 a.m., we depart from Germany's capital, heading north towards Rostock. Once there, we board a ferry scheduled to set sail at 3:30 p.m. Enjoy the sea breeze and amenities aboard this modern vessel as we cross the Baltic Sea to Denmark. The crossing takes nearly two hours, offering an excellent opportunity to relax and reflect on your trip so far. Upon our arrival in Denmark, we continue through the picturesque Danish landscapes, reaching the vibrant city of Copenhagen by day's end.
Day 7 - Copenhagen
On our seventh day, we will delve into the vibrant charm of Copenhagen with a guided panoramic tour led by a local expert. Celebrated for its high quality of life and dedication to sustainability, the Danish capital offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences. Our tour will take us to iconic sights such as The Little Mermaid, inspired by the fairy tale of the same name; the bustling Nyhavn harbour, famous for its brightly coloured historic buildings; and the exterior of the regal Amalienborg Palace, the residence of the Danish royal family. We'll also visit the lively Town Hall Square and the surrounding Tivoli Park area. After the morning tour, you'll have free time to discover Copenhagen at your own pace, perhaps exploring its many museums, cafes, or shops. Enjoy the blend of modernity and history that makes this city truly unique.
Day 8 - Copenhagen - Jnkping - Vadstena - Stockholm
We will depart from Copenhagen and make our way to Elsinore, famously associated with Shakespeare's Hamlet, where you'll see the historic Kronborg Castle. After exploring, we'll take a brief 20-minute ferry ride to Sweden, continuing our journey through breathtaking landscapes filled with expansive lakes and verdant woodlands. We'll arrive in Jnkping, a charming and contemporary town situated on the edge of a large lake. Here, you'll have the opportunity to delve into the local atmosphere and enjoy lunch. Our travels will then bring us to Vadstena, a quaint lakeside town renowned for its ancient residences and the impressive 14th-century castle, which was transformed into a monastery. We will proceed to Stockholm, Sweden's captivating capital, reaching there in the evening. This remarkable city, which sprawls across an archipelago in the Baltic Sea, is interwoven by an array of bridges and ferries. Stockholm is celebrated for its rich history, splendid architecture, and seamless fusion of tradition with modernity, offering a unique and engaging experience.
Day 9 - Stockholm
Today, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Stockholm, a captivating capital city uniquely situated on 14 interconnected islands. Our exploration will take us to Gamla Stan, known as "the city between bridges." Here, you can wander through the vibrant old quarter, where you'll encounter magnificent landmarks such as the Nobel Prize Museum, conveniently located next to Stortorget the main square celebrating Nobel Prize winners. We'll also visit the grand Cathedral and the imposing Royal Palace. Whenever possible, we'll pause to take in the breathtaking views from Fjllgatan viewpoint. Following the tour, you will have free time to delve deeper into the city's offerings. We suggest exploring the city's renowned museums and parks at your own pace. Should you desire, optional visits to the Stockholm City Hall or the Vasa Museum can be arranged to enrich your experience further.
