Day 1 - Frankfurt
Upon arriving in Frankfurt, we will transfer you to your hotel, giving you a chance to settle in and relax. You'll have some free time to begin exploring this vibrant city at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, you can find essential information about your tour's start at the hotel reception, conveniently displayed on the boards. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Dortmund
We begin our day by exploring the scenic Rhine and Moselle Valleys, regions steeped in history and dotted with charming villages. Our first activity is a delightful cruise along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine, between the villages of Rdesheim and Sankt Goar. Next, we venture to the Moselle River, pausing for lunch in Cochem. This picturesque village is beautifully situated on the Rhine's banks, watched over by an impressive, thousand-year-old castle. Afterwards, we make our way to Cologne, where you'll have the opportunity to visit the awe-inspiring Gothic cathedral, once the tallest building in the world at 154 metres. Take a leisurely walk along the Rhine and meander through this lively city's vibrant centre. As the day draws to a close, we continue to our hotel in Dortmund. Please note, during fairs or congresses, accommodation may be offered in nearby cities.
Day 3 - Dortmund - Fairy Tale Route - Hannover
Today, we embark on a captivating journey along the Fairy Tale Route, which draws inspiration from the enchanting tales of the Brothers Grimm. Our first destination is Trendelburg, a charming walled village known for its imposing medieval castle and the iconic Rapunzel Tower both of which we will explore (admission included). As we venture further along scenic roads, we pass through lush forests reminiscent of the tales of Hansel and Gretel. We'll pause for lunch in the vibrant town of Hxter, where we visit Corvey Abbey, a significant 9th-century monastery and World Heritage Site (admission included). Next, we'll make a stop in Polle to explore the ruins of Cinderellas Castle (admission included) before continuing to Hamelin, the legendary home of The Pied Piper. After following the trail of this fabled tale, we conclude our day's journey in Hanover, where you can enjoy a leisurely walk near the historic old town hall. Note that during fairs or conferences, accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city. Please be aware that Corvey Abbey is closed from November to February.
Day 4 - Hannover - Hamburg - Flensburg - Aarhus
After a hearty breakfast, we set off for Hamburg, a city bustling with life around its famous port and serene lake. Following our exploration and a leisurely lunch, we continue to Flensburg. This delightful seaside town is perched on the border with Denmark, boasting a charming marina. Our journey then takes us along the scenic Jutland peninsula until we arrive in Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city. Here, the mix of modern vibrancy and cultural heritage awaits your discovery.
Day 5 - Aarhus - Kristiansand Ferry - Kristiansand - Stavanger
Today, we journey from Aarhus to the port town of Hirtshals, where we board a ferry bound for Norway. This three-hour crossing of the North Sea concludes in the city of Kristiansand. Once disembarked, we continue our route along Norway's enchanting southern coastline, stopping in the quaint town of Flekkefjord. We then proceed to Stavanger, renowned for its charming harbour nestled by the fjord. Please note, the ferry timetable may differ depending on the monthhowever, youll typically have time to enjoy lunch onboard.
Day 6 - Stavanger - Bergen
Departing Stavanger, we begin our day with a visit to the Swords in Rock monument, a striking tribute to the Viking era. As we travel along Norway's scenic fjord coast, the journey is enhanced by unique experiences, including traversing the world's deepest undersea tunnel and two relaxed boat rides, offering breathtaking views. Arriving in Bergen by lunchtime, we will enjoy a cable car ride up Mount Flyen, providing us with splendid panoramas of the city and surrounding fjords. Afterwards, you will have free time to explore Bergen, often referred to as the capital of the fjords, at your own pace.
Day 7 - Bergen - Sognefjord - Oslo
Our seventh day promises a feast of stunning Norwegian landscapes, beginning with a visit to the magnificent Sognefjord, the largest fjord in the country. En route, well pause at the captivating Tvindefossen Waterfall. We suggest having lunch on board as we embark on an awe-inspiring hour-and-a-half cruise between Gudvangen and Aurland, surrounded by breathtaking scenery. Our journey continues through dramatic, snow-blanketed landscapes and the impressive Aurland Tunnel known as the longest in the world. Well briefly stop to admire the exterior of Borgund Stave Church, renowned as Norway's best-preserved medieval wooden church. Arriving in Oslo, youll have free time to explore the vibrant port, stroll along the city's main streets, and appreciate the unique sculptures in Frogner Park.
Day 8 - Oslo - Orebro - Stockholm
In Oslo, the day begins with a panoramic tour of Norway's capital led by a knowledgeable local guide. This vibrant city beautifully integrates modern architecture with classical structures, all set against the backdrop of picturesque scenery and expansive parks adorned with sculptures. Oslo's commitment to sustainability has earned it the title of European Green Capital. After our guided exploration, you'll have free time to discover the city at your own pace. As we depart for Sweden, we travel through enchanting landscapes filled with dense forests and serene lakes, reaching rebro. This historic town, nestled by a scenic lake, boasts a castle and a quaint old quarter. You'll have a chance to wander through its charming streets before we continue our journey, arriving in Stockholm by evening.
Day 9 - Stockholm
Today, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of Stockholm, a captivating capital set across 14 interconnected islands. We'll explore Gamla Stan, the dynamic old town often referred to as "the city between bridges." Here, you'll find monumental buildings such as the Nobel Prize Museum, which celebrates the achievements of Nobel laureates and is situated beside the main square of Stortorget. We'll also visit Stockholm's Cathedral and the Royal Palace. Whenever conditions allow, we'll savour the breathtaking views from the Fjllgatan viewpoint. Later, you'll have leisure time to wander at your own pace. Take the opportunity to visit local museums and parksperhaps the City Hall or the Vasa Museum might pique your interest.
Day 10 - Stockholm - Helsingor - Copenhagen
We travel southward today, beginning with some time in the lively coastal town of Helsingborg. In the early afternoon, we board a ferry from Sweden to Helsingr in Denmark. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore Helsingr, renowned as the setting for Hamlet and home to the impressive Kronborg Castle. Later, we continue our journey, arriving in the vibrant city of Copenhagen in the evening.
Day 11 - Copenhagen
Today, we will embark on a morning tour of Copenhagen, guided by a local expert. This vibrant city is celebrated for its outstanding quality of life, dedication to sustainability, and vibrant cultural scene. Our exploration will take us to some of its most iconic sights, including The Little Mermaid, a beloved symbol of the city, and Nyhavn harbour, famous for its charming, colourful buildings. We'll also admire the exterior of Amalienborg Palace, the royal residence, and take in the bustling atmosphere of Town Hall Square. As we move through the city, we'll pass by the Tivoli Park area, a popular spot for both locals and visitors. After the tour, you will have the rest of the day free to discover the city on your own. Whether you choose to delve into Copenhagen's rich history or enjoy its modern attractions, the city offers a wealth of experiences to explore.
Day 12 - Copenhagen
Following breakfast, our adventure reaches its conclusion in Copenhagen. We depart, taking with us a treasure trove of delightful and enduring memories from our travels.
