Day 1 - Berlin
Welcome to Berlin! Upon your arrival, you'll be transferred to your hotel where you can enjoy some free time to relax or begin exploring this vibrant city at your own pace. This afternoon, details regarding the beginning of your tour will be displayed on information boards in the hotel reception area. Use this time to familiarise yourself with the schedule and prepare for the exciting days ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Berlin
On our second day in Berlin, we dive into the city's vibrant culture with a guided panoramic tour. Berlin, Germany's dynamic capital, boasts a rich tapestry of history and modernity. We will explore the historic centre, delve into the architectural treasures of Museum Island, and admire the imposing Reichstag and the iconic Brandenburg Gate. Our tour will wind through bustling shopping avenues and tranquil parks, perfect examples of the city's diverse character. Significant stops will include the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, both poignant reminders of the city's past. In the afternoon, you have the option to explore further with a visit to Potsdam, a nearby area renowned for its stunning palaces.
Day 3 - Berlin - Dresden - Bamberg - Nuremberg
On day three, our journey takes us from Berlin to Dresden and Bamberg. Well set off for Dresden, situated along the picturesque River Elbe. Here, youll have the chance to admire its magnificent architecture, including the city's stunning palace. After exploring Dresden, well continue our travels into Bavaria, reaching the charming city of Bamberg. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, Bamberg offers a delightful characterbe sure not to miss the quaint area known as Little Venice. Our journey then leads us to Nuremberg, a city steeped in history as the second largest in Bavaria. While there, it's recommended to visit the historical site where Hitlers Coliseum once stood, showcasing the citys significant past.
Day 4 - Nuremberg - Kloster Weltenburg - Dachau - Munich
Today promises a host of captivating experiences. We'll begin in Kelheim, where we'll board a boat to navigate the scenic Danube Valley, cruising through the dramatic Danube Gorge. Our first destination is the historic Kloster Weltenburg, a remarkable Benedictine monastery with roots tracing back to 1040. Following this, we proceed to Dachau for a poignant visit to the Nazi concentration camp museum. After a break for lunch, we'll journey to Munich to explore the impressive BMW Welt, a modern exhibit space dedicated to the iconic German car manufacturer, where you can indulge in a closer look at the brand's innovations. We'll also visit the Olympiapark, home to the spectacular Olympiastadion, built for the 1972 Olympic Games. You'll then have leisure time in Munich's vibrant city centre. Consider a stroll through Marienplatz, the storied heart of the city, or explore the bustling Viktualienmarkt with its wide array of fresh produce and local treats. Alternatively, relax in the serene environs of the Englischer Garten or sample the local culture at one of Munich's traditional beer houses. Please note, during winter or when water levels in the Danube are low, the boat trip will be unavailable. In such cases, we'll adapt our itinerary to include a visit to the town of Landshut instead, and Kloster Weltenburg will be observed from the exterior if closed.
Day 5 - Munich - Fussen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
Amidst the enchanting backdrop of alpine peaks and stunning vistas, we set off towards Fssen, renowned for the illustrious Neuschwanstein Castle. A short bus ride will take us to Mary's Bridge, offering unparalleled views of the surrounding gorge. From here, you can choose to return by foot or opt for a horse-drawn carriage ride back to the base (not included). Continuing along the celebrated Romantic Road, we journey to Rothenburg, a charming fortified city famous for its medieval allure. Here, we will visit the unique Christmas Museum, with admission included. Our day concludes as we make our way to Frankfurt, the financial hub of Germany, where the evening is yours to explore or relax at your leisure.
Day 6 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Dortmund
Our adventure continues as we delve into the enchanting Rhine and Moselle Valleys, regions steeped in history and bursting with charming villages. We embark on a short cruise along the most picturesque stretch of the Rhine, from Rdesheim to Sankt Goar. Once back on land, we journey to the Moselle River, pausing for lunch in Cochem, a delightful village perched on the riverbank and overlooked by a magnificent castle with over a thousand years of history. Afterwards, we proceed to the vibrant city of Cologne, where you will have free time to explore the impressive Gothic cathedral. Standing 154 metres tall, this architectural marvel was the tallest building in the world until the late 19th century. You might also enjoy a leisurely stroll along the Rhine or explore the lively city centre before we head to our hotel in Dortmund. Please note, during fairs or congresses, we may arrange accommodation in a nearby city.
Day 7 - Dortmund - Fairy Tale Route - Hannover
On day seven, we embark on a fairytale-inspired journey through the charming towns that shaped the famous Brothers Grimm tales, known as the Fairy Tale Route. Our first stop is Trendelburg, a quaint walled village where you can explore the medieval castle and its renowned Rapunzel Tower entry is included. As we continue our journey along scenic roads, surrounded by lush forests reminiscent of Hansel and Gretel's story, we pause in Hxter for lunch. This vibrant town is home to Corvey Abbey, an ancient 9th-century monastery and a designated World Heritage Site (entry included).Next, we visit Polle to explore the ruins of Cinderellas Castle, with admission included, and then head to Hamelin, celebrated for the legendary tale of "The Pied Piper of Hamelin." After following the tales of mice and men, we conclude our day by proceeding to Hanover, where you'll have time to enjoy a leisurely stroll near the historic old town hall. Please note that during fairs or conferences, accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city, and Corvey Abbey is closed from November to February.
Day 8 - Hannover - Hamburg - Flensburg - Aarhus
Following breakfast, we will journey to Hamburg, where you can explore the city's bustling port area, located around the picturesque lake. After enjoying Hamburg's vibrant atmosphere, we will head to Flensburg, a delightful seaside town situated near the Danish border and accented by its charming marina. Continuing our travels along the Jutland Peninsula, we will make our way to Aarhus, Denmarks second-largest city, known for its rich cultural scene and bustling urban life.
Day 9 - Aarhus - Kristiansand Ferry - Kristiansand - Stavanger
We will make our way to Hirtshals, where well board a ferry for a three-hour journey across the North Sea to Norway. As we sail towards Kristiansand, enjoy time on the boat with the option to have lunch. Upon arrival in Norway, we'll travel along the country's picturesque southern coast. Our route will take us to the quaint town of Flekkefjord, after which we'll continue to Stavanger. This charming town is known for its vibrant port, nestled beautifully by the fjord.
Day 10 - Stavanger - Bergen
As we depart from Stavanger, we'll make a brief stop at the striking Swords in Rock monument, a significant tribute to Norway's Viking heritage. Our journey then weaves through Norway's captivating fjord coastline, featuring a series of tunnels and bridges, with certain segments completed by boat. Notably, we'll travel through the world's deepest undersea tunnel. The dual boat rides ensure a peaceful and scenic experience. We'll reach Bergen around lunchtime, after which we'll ascend Mount Flyen by cable car, offering stunning panoramas of the town and fjord. The remainder of the day is yours to delve into Bergen's charms, the quintessential capital of the fjords.
Day 11 - Bergen - Sognefjord - Oslo
Today, we will explore some of Norway's most stunning natural landscapes, renowned for their breathtaking beauty. Our journey begins with a drive through scenic fjords, glaciers, and forested areas as we make our way to Sognefjord, the largest fjord in Norway. Along the route, we will pause to admire the spectacular Tvindefossen Waterfall. The highlight of our morning will be a delightful cruise between Gudvangen and Aurland, offering unparalleled views of the fjord's striking scenery. We invite you to enjoy lunch on board as we sail through the tranquil waters.After disembarking, our journey continues through snow-draped vistas and the remarkable Aurland Tunnel, which holds the distinction of being the longest road tunnel in the world. Before reaching our final destination, we will visit the Borgund Stave Church, where you can appreciate its well-preserved medieval wooden architecture from the outside.As we arrive in Oslo, you'll have leisure time to explore the city at your own pace. Set against stunning natural backdrops, Olaf has been recognised as the European Green Capital, thanks to its commitment to sustainability. After the tour, youll have leisure time to explore Oslos attractions at your own pace. We then set off towards Sweden, travelling through the scenic landscapes of dense forests and tranquil lakes. Our journey takes us to rebro, a town steeped in history with its striking lakeside castle and charming old town. Youll have time to enjoy a leisurely stroll and absorb the atmosphere before we continue our journey, arriving in Stockholm in the evening.
Day 13 - Stockholm
Today, we set off on an enriching journey through Stockholm, a charming capital sprawled across 14 interconnected islands. Our panoramic tour will navigate through Gamla Stan, the historic heart of the city often dubbed "the city between bridges." Here, you can marvel at grand structures such as the Nobel Prize Museum, nestled next to Stortorget, the vibrant main square that pays homage to Nobel laureates. Well also explore the grandeur of the Cathedral and the Swedish Royal Palace. If circumstances permit, we'll be treated to breathtaking vistas from Fjllgatan, showcasing Stockholm's beauty from an elevated perspective. Day 14 - Stockholm - Helsingor - Copenhagen
Leaving Stockholm, we make our way south to the lively coastal town of Helsingborg. Here, youll have the opportunity to explore and soak up the local atmosphere before we board an afternoon ferry to Helsingr, Denmark. Known as the hometown of Hamlet, Helsingr boasts the striking Kronborg Castle, an iconic Renaissance fortress and a UNESCO World Heritage site. Spend some time wandering this remarkable town, rich with history and charm. Continuing our journey, well arrive in the vibrant city of Copenhagen by evening.
Day 15 - Copenhagen
As the sun rises on your last day in the Danish capital, we invite you to embark on a guided city tour with a local expert. Renowned for its superb quality of life and vibrant cultural scene, Copenhagen offers a wealth of experiences. Our tour will take you to see iconic sights, including The Little Mermaid statue and the lively Nyhavn harbour, known for its colourful historic buildings. We'll also admire the exterior of Amalienborg Palace, residence of the Danish royal family, and visit the bustling Town Hall Square and the Tivoli Park area. After the guided tour, the remainder of the day is yours to explore Copenhagen at your own pace.
