Day 1 - Berlin
Upon your arrival in Berlin, we will conveniently transfer you to your hotel, allowing you some time to settle in and unwind. Take this opportunity to explore at your own pace, perhaps venturing out to enjoy a taste of the local atmosphere. In the afternoon, you will find important information regarding the start of your tour displayed on the notice boards located in the hotel reception area. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Berlin
On our second day, we will dive into the vibrant culture of Berlin with a guided panoramic tour of this fascinating German capital. Our journey will lead us through the historic centre and along the iconic Museum Island, offering glimpses of the elegant Reichstag and the majestic Brandenburg Gate. We'll stroll along bustling shopping streets and enjoy the tranquillity of Berlins picturesque parks. Our exploration includes poignant visits to the Holocaust Memorial and the Berlin Wall Memorial Museum, each providing a profound insight into the city's history. Should you choose, there is an optional excursion to Potsdam, where you can marvel at its breathtaking palaces during your free time.
Day 3 - Berlin - Dresden - Bamberg - Nuremberg
Today, we embark on a journey from Berlin to Dresden, beautifully set along the River Elbe. In Dresden, you'll have the opportunity to take in the city's magnificent palace. Our adventure continues as we travel into Bavaria, arriving in the charming and vibrant city of Bamberg, known for its picturesque appeal be sure to explore Little Venice while you're there. Following our exploration of Bamberg, we move onwards to Nuremberg, Bavaria's second-largest city, steeped in history. We recommend visiting the site of the former Nazi rally grounds, where Hitlers Coliseum once stood, for a dose of historical insight.
Day 4 - Nuremberg - Kloster Weltenburg - Dachau - Munich
Today's itinerary promises an array of captivating experiences. Our day begins in Kelheim, where we'll embark on a short cruise along the picturesque Danube Valley, travelling through the stunning Danube Gorge. Our first stop is Kloster Weltenburg, an exquisite Benedictine monastery founded in 1040. From there, we continue to Dachau for a poignant visit to the Nazi concentration camp museum. After lunch, our journey takes us to Munich. Here, we'll explore the renowned BMW Welt, a multifunctional facility showcasing the prestigious German car brand. You'll also see the impressive Olympiastadion, the venue for the 1972 Olympic Games. The afternoon is yours to discover Munichs historic centre. Explore Marienplatz, the vibrant heart of the city, or take a leisurely walk at the Viktualienmarkt, an open-air market with delightful offerings. For relaxation, the Englischer Garten is perfect, or you may choose to unwind in one of Munich's traditional beer gardens. Please note, in winter or when water levels are low, the Danube cruise may not operate; alternatively, we'll adapt the plan to include a visit to Landshut and view Kloster Weltenburg from the outside.
Day 5 - Munich - Fussen - Rothenburg - Frankfurt
Today, we will journey through alpine landscapes towards Fssen to visit the iconic Neuschwanstein Castle. Here, youll have the opportunity to travel by bus to Mary's Bridge, where sweeping views of the gorge await. Afterward, you may choose to descend on foot or take a horse-drawn carriage (not included in the tour package). Continuing along the Romantic Road, we will arrive in Rothenburg, a charming medieval town. Youll have time to explore its enchanting streets and visit the Christmas Museum, with your admission included. Wrapping up the day, we will make our way to Frankfurt, known as Germanys financial hub.
Day 6 - Frankfurt - Cruise on the Rhine - Cologne - Dortmund
Today, we delve into the scenic landscapes of the Rhine and Moselle Valleys, both rich in history and dotted with picturesque villages. Our day begins with a delightful cruise on the Rhine, journeying between the charming towns of Rdesheim and Sankt Goarundeniably the most breathtaking stretch of the river. We then set off towards the Moselle River, stopping to enjoy lunch in Cochem, a quaint village along the riverbank, watched over by an impressive castle that dates back over a millennium. Our journey continues to Cologne, where you will have time to explore the magnificent Gothic cathedral, a towering structure that held the record as the world's tallest building until the late 19th century. You can also take a leisurely walk along the Rhine or through Cologne's bustling city centre before we make our way to our accommodation in Dortmund. Note that during fairs or congresses, our overnight stay might be arranged in a nearby city.
Day 7 - Dortmund - Fairy Tale Route - Hannover
Today, we embark on a delightful exploration of the Fairy Tale Route, a journey that brings childhood stories to life. Our adventure begins with a visit to the charming village of Trendelburg, where we'll explore the historic medieval castle and its famed Rapunzel Tower, with admission included. We then continue our journey through enchanting landscapes that evoke the tales of the Brothers Grimm, such as Hansel and Gretel. Our lunchtime stop is in Hxter, a vibrant town boasting the ancient Corvey Abbeya World Heritage Site dating back to the 9th century, which well have the chance to visit. The trip proceeds to Polle, where we explore the romantic ruins of Cinderella's Castle, admission also included. Our fairy tale tour takes us next to Hamelin, famously linked to the tale of The Pied Piper. Here, you'll have an opportunity to delve into the local folklore by following the iconic mouse tracks through the town. As we conclude our journey for the day, we continue to Hanover, where there's time for a leisurely stroll near the Old Town Hall. Please be aware that during fairs or conferences, our accommodation may be arranged in a nearby city. Additionally, Corvey Abbey is not open from November to February.
Day 8 - Hannover - Hamburg - Flensburg - Aarhus
Following breakfast, we'll set off for Hamburg, a bustling city known for its vibrant port nestled around a picturesque lake. After taking in the sights and enjoying lunch, we'll head to Flensburg. This charming coastal village, complete with a marina, is situated on the German-Danish border. We'll then continue our adventure along the scenic Jutland peninsula, ultimately arriving in Aarhus, Denmark's second-largest city.
Day 9 - Aarhus - Kristiansand Ferry - Kristiansand - Stavanger
On day nine, our journey takes us to Hirtshals, where we will embark on a ferry crossing the North Sea to Norwaya three-hour voyage that promises both excitement and a chance for a relaxing lunch on board. Upon arrival in Kristiansand, we'll continue our exploration along Norway's picturesque southern coastline, with a delightful stop in the charming town of Flekkefjord. Our day concludes as we reach the vibrant port town of Stavanger, nestled by a stunning fjord and characterised by its scenic beauty and lively atmosphere. Note that the ferry schedule may change depending on the time of year, but rest assured there will be ample opportunity to enjoy a meal on the boat.
Day 10 - Stavanger - Bergen
Departing Stavanger, our first stop will be at the iconic Swords in Rock monument, a striking tribute to the Viking era. We'll then continue our journey along Norway's captivating fjord coast, navigating through a series of tunnels and bridges, with a couple of stretches by boat. One of the tunnels we'll travel through is the world's deepest undersea tunnel, making this part of our trip both fascinating and scenic.We'll arrive in Bergen around lunchtime, at which point we'll take a ride on the cable car up Mount Flyen. From here, you'll be treated to breathtaking views of the city and the surrounding Bergen fjordan unforgettable vista. After this, you'll have some free time to explore Bergen at your leisure. Known as the 'capital of the fjords,' Bergen offers a lively atmosphere with plenty of charm.
Day 11 - Bergen - Sognefjord - Oslo
Today, we embark on a journey through some of Norway's most picturesque landscapes, featuring majestic fjords, glaciers, lakes, and forests. Our first stop is the awe-inspiring Sognefjord, Norway's largest fjord. En route, we pause to admire the breathtaking Tvindefossen Waterfall. The highlight of our day is a scenic cruise between Gudvangen and Aurland, where you can enjoy lunch amidst spectacular surroundings during the hour-and-a-half sail. Continuing our adventure, we'll traverse snow-capped vistas and pass through the impressive Aurland Tunnel, renowned as the longest of its kind globally. We'll also take a moment to view the exterior of Borgund Stave Church, a striking example of Norway's best-preserved medieval wooden churches. Our day concludes as we arrive in Oslo, where you'll have free time to explore the city's vibrant port, main streets, and the impressive artworks in Frogner Park.
Day 12 - Oslo
We'll start the day with a panoramic tour of Oslo, Norway's picturesque capital, renowned for its stunning natural landscapes and recognised as Europe's green capital. Accompanied by a local guide, we'll drive past the Royal Palace and make a stop at Vigeland Park, home to an impressive collection of sculptures. We'll then view the exteriors of the Town Hall, the historic old port, and the contemporary Opera House. Following the tour, you might like to continue exploring Oslo's cultural offerings by visiting one of the citys notable museums, such as the Munch Museum. The afternoon is open for you to enjoy at your own pace. As our journey comes to a close, youll depart with lasting memories of this enriching experience.
