Day 1 - Paris - Blois - Tours - Villandry - Amboise
We begin our journey by venturing south to the beautiful Loire Valley, often referred to as the 'Garden of France'. Our first stop is the quaint city of Blois, celebrated for its striking Chteau de Blois. The castle here is a fine example of French Renaissance architecture, a real treat for history enthusiasts. We then head to Tours, the capital of the region, set on the serene banks of the River Loire. Here, you can take a peaceful stroll and savour a lovely lunch in one of its charming eateries. In the afternoon, we will visit the breathtaking Chteau de Villandry, where you're sure to be mesmerised by its magnificent gardens, a rich tapestry of flowers and ornamental designentry to the gardens is included in our tour. Our day continues in Amboise, a city brimming with historical allure, featuring an enchanting medieval quarter. We close the day with an included dinner, perfect to reflect on the days experiences. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Amboise - Chenonceaux - Chambord - Limoges
On the second day of our adventure, we continue to explore the charm and history of the Loire Valley. Our day begins in Amboise, where you can enjoy a morning walk around the historic town. Discover the Chteau du Clos Luc, famously known as the residence where Leonardo da Vinci spent his final years. Next, we delve further into the heart of the Loire, visiting the magnificent Chteau de Chenonceau, a remarkable architectural masterpiece that spans the River Cher your visit to the chteau is included. Our journey then takes us to Chteau de Chambord, a stunning example of French Renaissance architecture and the largest chteau in the Loire Valley. We'll enjoy a visit to its expansive and beautifully landscaped park. We then travel onwards to Limoges, central France's hub of porcelain craftsmanship. As you explore the city, be sure to visit its historic centre, where the Saint Etienne Cathedral stands as a splendid example of Gothic architecture.
Day 3 - Limoges - Sarlat - Beynac-et-Cazenac - Rocamadour
We'll set off from Limoges today, heading towards the picturesque Dordogne region, celebrated for its historic rivers and enchanting landscapes. Our first stop will be Lascaux, where we'll visit the museum and the remarkable cave replica with its impressive prehistoric paintings tickets are included. Afterwards, we'll make our way to Sarlat, a town recognised by UNESCO for its beautifully preserved Renaissance historic centre. Here, you'll have some free time to explore and enjoy lunch at your own pace. Our journey continues to Beynac, where well visit a medieval castle perched above the river, offering stunning views the admission is included. Finally, we'll conclude the day in Rocamadour, a striking medieval village renowned for its sanctuary nestled on a cliff. For those interested, we suggest walking down the Via Crucis and taking the lift back up. Dinner is included as we end our day steeped in the rich history and beauty of this captivating region.
Day 4 - Rocamadour - Padirac Cave - Collonges-la-Rouge - Saint-Emilion - Bordeaux
Today, we will explore the awe-inspiring Padirac Chasm, where you can experience a captivating boat ride on the river 75 metres underground. Afterwards, we continue to Collonges-la-Rouge, a charming village built from distinctive red stone and recognised as part of the Way of St. James. Following lunch, we'll set off for Saint-Emilion, situated in the heart of the renowned Bordeaux wine region, where you'll have free time for a pleasant wander. Our day concludes as we arrive in Bordeaux in the evening. Please note, the Padirac Chasm may be closed from November to the end of March due to weather conditions.
Day 5 - Bordeaux - Lourdes
Spend your morning in Bordeaux, a city whose centre is acclaimed as a World Heritage Site. Absorb the beauty of the renowned "Water Mirror" and wander through the historic old town with its inviting pedestrian streets and the impressive 11th-century cathedral. Youll have some free time to leisurely explore the Garonne River banks, where charming restaurants offer the perfect spot for lunch. Alternatively, consider visiting the Cit du Vin, an engaging interactive museum dedicated to the history and art of winemaking. In the afternoon, we venture towards the Pyrenees, arriving in Lourdes by mid-afternoon. Here, youll have the chance to visit the famous sanctuary (we suggest attending the moving candlelit procession in the evening). Dinner will be provided.
Day 6 - Lourdes - Carcassonne - Foix - Andorra
Today, we'll embark on a journey through southern France, beginning with a stop in Carcassonne. Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the city renowned for its medieval fortifications, majestic castle, and charming historic district known as La Cit. Take your time to savour a leisurely lunch while soaking in the distinct atmosphere. Our adventure then takes us towards the picturesque Pyrenees, with a brief pause in Foix, a medieval town famed for the Chteau de Foix. As we continue through the Pyrenees, admire the stunning mountain vistas, with snow-capped peaks visible throughout the year. We will make a short visit to Sant Joan de Caselles, a quaint Romanesque church dating back to the 12th century, before heading to Andorra. In the capital, Andorra la Vella, you'll have ample time to explore either the bustling shopping district or Caldea, Europe's largest thermal spa. Dinner will be included in the evening.
Day 7 - Andorra - Montserrat - Barcelona
We'll begin our day with some leisurely time in Andorra. You can take this opportunity for shopping or simply enjoy a peaceful walk. Following lunch, we will journey into the picturesque region of Catalonia. Our travels will lead us to the awe-inspiring abbey of Santa Maria de Montserrat. Here, we'll take a scenic rack train ride up the mountainan experience that promises breathtaking views. After exploring the sanctuary and absorbing the serene atmosphere, we will continue to Barcelona, aiming to arrive by late afternoon.
Day 8 - Barcelona
This morning, well embark on a panoramic tour of Barcelona, celebrated as one of Europe's most enthralling capitals. Set along the Mediterranean Sea, this dynamic city is famed for Gauds modernist architecture, the vibrant Ramblas, and a rich history marked by events like the Universal Exposition and the Olympics. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure. In the evening, well offer a transfer to Maremagnum, a contemporary entertainment and dining hub by the sea, conveniently located near Plaza de Coln. Here, you can enjoy a relaxed stroll through the lively setting and choose from a range of dining options.
Day 9 - Barcelona
On our final day in Barcelona, we'll enjoy breakfast together as our journey draws to a close. As we part ways, you'll carry with you the wonderful memories of the experiences we've shared.
