Day 1 - Copenhagen
Upon your arrival in Copenhagen, our team will be on hand to provide a smooth transfer to your hotel, where you can settle in and enjoy some leisure time to explore or relax as you please. Later in the afternoon, youll find all the necessary information about the start of your journey displayed on the boards at the hotel reception, preparing you for the adventures ahead. Please note: This tour may have travellers joining or departing at various points along the route, meaning group composition can change during the tour. Please also be aware that depending on group composition, guiding may be in additional languages as well as English.
Day 2 - Copenhagen - Rostock - Szczecin
After breakfast, we will set off for Gedser, a charming town that is the southernmost point of Scandinavia. At around 11:00 a.m., we will board a modern ferry for a two-hour crossing of the Baltic Sea to Germany. It's a good idea to enjoy lunch on board. Upon arriving in Rostock, you will have time to explore this bustling city, home to Germany's largest Baltic port. Take a leisurely stroll through the vibrant old town, where notable sites include the Market Square, City Hall, and St. Mary's Church. Our journey continues as we travel through the Pomerania region en route to Poland. By evening, we will arrive in Szczecin, a historic university city located on the banks of the Oder River. Enjoy some free time to wander through its captivating old town, where you will find the Pomeranian Dukes' Castle and picturesque riverside terraces.
Day 3 - Szczecin - Bydgoszcz - Torun - Warsaw
Following breakfast, we journey through the tranquil regions of western Poland, once part of Germany until the conclusion of the Second World War. Our first stop is Bydgoszcz, a city celebrated for its stunning architecture, picturesque parks, and canal networks linking the Vistula and Oder rivers. You will have time to wander its historic streets and perhaps enjoy a leisurely lunch. We then continue to Toru?, a magnificent Gothic city enclosed by walls, with a historic centre that has earned UNESCO World Heritage status. As the birthplace of Copernicus, Toru? offers you the chance to explore this illustrious site and, if you choose, visit his museum-home. We conclude our day with a journey onwards to Warsaw, the vibrant capital of Poland, arriving by evening.
Day 4 - Warsaw
We begin our day with a comprehensive tour of Warsaw, led by a local guide. With nearly two million inhabitants, this city is Polands political and economic fulcrum, renowned for its amalgamation of contemporary design and meticulously restored historical structures. We will amble through the enchanting old town, where the Royal Palace and cobbled streetsmeticulously rebuilt after their wartime destruction and now recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Sitestand as testaments to the citys resilience. Our journey will also take us to the Palace of Culture, a towering edifice gifted by the Soviet Union, where we will ponder the events that once made this city home to Europes largest Jewish ghetto. A visit to the serene Lazienki Park, adorned with the Chopin Monument, offers a moment of reflection. The afternoon is yours to discover at your leisure. You might explore the various museums such as the National Museum and the Warsaw Rising Museum, or indulge in the vibrant activities and shopping opportunities in the city centre.
Day 5 - Warsaw - Olsztyn - Elblag Canal - Malbork - Gdansk
After breakfast, we venture north into Poland, heading first to Olsztynek. Here, we will visit the open-air Museum of Folk Architecture, where you'll find an array of wooden houses, vintage mills, and a quaint traditional church that collectively transport you back in time. Admission is included. Our journey then takes us to the Elblag Canal, the longest navigable canal in Poland. You'll visit a museum located in a unique spot where boats are ingeniously transported over land on rails to negotiate changes in elevation. Next, we proceed to Malbork to explore the formidable Malbork Castle, with admission for this visit included. Constructed in the 13th century by the Teutonic Knights, this impressive fortress is one of Europe's largest medieval castles and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As evening falls, we will reach Gda?sk, formerly known as Danzig. This city is renowned for its stunning historic centre, and we highly recommend an evening stroll to soak up its vibrant atmosphere. Enjoy the delightful sights and sounds of Gda?sk as they come to life in the evening.
Day 6 - Gdansk - Sopot - Sopot - Nynshamn Ferry
After breakfast, we will accompany our guide for an insightful visit to the European Solidarity Centre, a remarkable modern building that honours the history of the Solidarity movement, pivotal in the collapse of the Soviet Union. Youll see the monument dedicated to the fallen workers. Following this, we will include admission to the Museum of the Second World War, a compelling institution opened in 2017, serving as a poignant reminder of the 3 to 6 million Polish lives lost during that devastating conflict. You'll then have some time to wander around the captivating historic centre of Gda?sk before we proceed to Sopot, a delightful seaside resort on the Baltic coast. Known for its vibrant vibe, Sopot offers a long sandy beach and one of Europes longest wooden piers, providing stunning views over the sea. In the evening, we'll board a modern ferry, in cruise-style, for our onward journey to Sweden. The ferry is scheduled to depart at 7:30 p.m., and you will spend the night in comfortable cabins with breakfast included the following day.
Day 7 - Sopot - Nynshamn Ferry - Stockholm
We will begin our day on the ferry, reaching Karlskrona in southern Sweden at approximately 6:30 a.m. From here, we continue our journey towards Stockholm, making a stop at Vstervik along the way. This charming seaside town boasts a scenic historic centre, perfect for a leisurely walk. In the afternoon, we'll arrive in Stockholm, the vibrant capital of Sweden. The city is uniquely spread across fourteen islands, interconnected by an array of bridges and ferries, offering a captivating blend of history and modernity. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore. We suggest you take a stroll through the city's historic centre and visit some of its museums and parks to fully immerse yourself in the local culture and history.
Day 8 - Stockholm
Today, we'll embark on a panoramic tour of Stockholm, a stunning capital spread over 14 interlinked islands. Our exploration will carry us to Gamla Stan, the vibrant old quarter known as "the city between bridges." Here, you'll discover notable landmarks including the Nobel Prize Museum, situated adjacent to the main square of Stortorget, which honours Nobel laureates. We'll also visit the Cathedral and the Royal Palace. Whenever accessible, we'll take in the breathtaking views from Fjllgatan viewpoint. Afterwards, you'll have time to explore at your leisure. We suggest a visit to the city's museums and parks, or perhaps opt to tour the City Hall or the Vasa Museum.
Day 9 - Stockholm - Stockholm - Turku Ferry
Spend your day in Stockholm at your own pace, exploring everything this vibrant city offers. Whether wandering through its charming neighbourhoods, indulging in Swedish cuisine, or visiting one of its many museums, there's something for everyone. In the evening, we will board a modern ferry for an enchanting overnight voyage to Finland. You'll be comfortably accommodated in double en-suite cabins, allowing for a restful night as we sail across the Baltic Sea.
Day 10 - Stockholm - Turku Ferry - Naantali - Helsinki
As we sail into the Finnish archipelago, be sure to head to the ship's deck at sunrise for breathtaking views of the land Islands, a stunning collection of forested isles. Once we disembark, you'll have the chance to explore Turku, a city steeped in a rich Swedish heritage. Our journey then takes us to Naantali, a picturesque town known for its quaint wooden houses that overlook the sea. By lunchtime, we'll find ourselves in Helsinki. The afternoon is yours to discover this vibrant city, with its charming old market, striking Russian-influenced architecture, and magnificent churches.
Day 11 - Helsinki - Helsinki - Tallinn Ferry - Tallinn
We begin our day with an included excursion to the Suomenlinna Islands, a remarkable cluster of six islands in Helsinki, home to a formidable 18th-century sea fortress. Recognised as a World Heritage Site, this bastion once stood guard over the citys harbour. Engage with the fascinating history as you wander across the islands, linked by charming pedestrian bridges. In the afternoon, well board a ferry for a roughly two-and-a-half-hour journey to Estonia, departing Helsinki along a picturesque route past stunning coastal scenery. Our journey concludes as we arrive in Tallinn, the enchanting capital of Estonia, in the evening.
Day 12 - Tallinn
Today, we'll delve into the captivating city of Tallinn, Estonia's capital, known for its remarkably preserved medieval core. We'll start with a panoramic tour, exploring the ancient city walls, enchanting churches, bustling squares, and cobbled streets, all brimming with fascinating sights and attractions. Once our guided tour concludes, you'll have the afternoon to yourself, offering the perfect opportunity to wander at your own pace, perhaps indulging in a leisurely lunch at a local caf or simply soaking in the historical ambiance.
Day 13 - Tallinn - Parnu - Turaida - Sigulda - Salaspils - Riga
Today, we embark on a journey through the scenic landscapes of forests and plains, arriving in Parnu, a renowned seaside resort. Following our visit, we continue our travels into Latvia. Enjoy an inclusive lunch before we explore the medieval Turaida Castle, nestled in a park adorned with intricate sculptures. We then invite you to wander through the charming town of Sigulda, set against a backdrop of striking natural beauty. Our journey continues towards Riga, with a poignant stop at the Salaspils Memorial. This site, a former Nazi concentration camp, has stood since 1967 as one of the largest monumental complexes in Europe, commemorating the victims of past atrocities. We will arrive in Riga in the evening, ready for the next leg of our adventure.
Day 14 - Riga
Today, immerse yourself in the rich tapestry of Riga, the largest city in the Baltic states. We begin with an inclusive panoramic tour, exploring this vibrant capital where remnants of the Soviet era seamlessly blend with stunning architectural heritage. Riga is celebrated for its captivating cultural hub, featuring a well-preserved medieval Historic Centre and an array of exquisite Art Nouveau buildings. In the afternoon, you have the freedom to uncover the city's treasures at your pace.
