Day 1 - Copenhagen
Welcome to your tour of Copenhagen! Upon arrival, we'll arrange your transfer to the hotel. Once settled, you'll have some free time to unwind and explore the city at your own pace. As the day unfolds, be sure to check the informative boards located at the hotel reception for details about the start of your tour. Enjoy your first taste of this vibrant capital city. Day 2 - Copenhagen
This morning, we will embark on a panoramic tour of Copenhagen, a city renowned for its exceptional quality of life, dedication to sustainability, and vibrant cultural scene. Our local guide will lead us to some of the city's most iconic sights. We'll admire The Little Mermaid, a symbol of the Danish capital, and wander through the colourful Nyhavn harbour, famous for its charming historic buildings. We'll also view the external facade of Amalienborg Palace, where the Danish royal family resides, and pass through Town Hall Square. Our journey will conclude near the Tivoli Park area. In the afternoon, you're free to explore at your own pace, immersing yourself in the city's unique atmosphere. Whether it's indulging in local cuisine or discovering hidden gems around Copenhagen, the afternoon is yours to enjoy.
Day 3 - Copenhagen - Jnkping - Vadstena - Stockholm
We begin our third day by departing for Elsinore, famously known as the setting for Shakespeare's "Hamlet," where the impressive Kronborg Castle stands. From here, we'll take a brief 20-minute ferry ride to Sweden. The journey will treat us to picturesque scenery, with expansive lakes and verdant forests, as we head towards Jnkping. This modern yet quaint city nestled by a vast lake invites you to explore and enjoy some lunch at your leisure. Our adventure continues with a visit to Vadstena, a charming lakeside town renowned for its historical architecture, including a notable 14th-century castle, now serving as a monastery. Our final destination for the day is Stockholm, where we will arrive in the evening. As the sun sets, take in the beauty of Sweden's capital, an enchanting city built across an archipelago in the Baltic Sea, interconnected by numerous bridges and ferries. Known for its deep-rooted history and remarkable architecture, Stockholm promises a unique experience that artfully marries tradition with modernity.
Day 4 - Stockholm - Mora
Following breakfast, we'll embark on a guided tour of Stockholm, a captivating city spread across 14 islands where water seems to be a constant companion. Our exploration begins in Gamla Stan, the bustling old town affectionately known as the "City between the Bridges." Here, you'll find the grand Nobel Museum situated by Stortorget, a square that honours Nobel Prize laureates, along with the impressive Royal Palace and Stockholm Cathedral. We'll also have the opportunity to admire panoramic views from the Fjllgatan viewpoint before some free time to explore the city at your own pace. By 4:00 p.m., we'll depart towards northwest Sweden. Our journey will take us through scenic landscapes featuring gentle hills, lush farmland, quaint villages, and serene lakes. By evening, we'll arrive in Mora, a charming town nestled between two lakes, historically significant for its role in supporting Gustav I of Sweden in his 1521 fight against Danish occupation.
Day 5 - Mora - Funsdalen - Roros - Trondheim
On Day 5, we'll set off early for a journey from Mora to Norway, passing through expansive forests, lakes, and mountainous terrain. Our first stop is the ski resort town of Funsdalen, offering you a glimpse into a popular winter retreat before we continue to Rros. This historic mining town, recognised as a World Heritage Site, is one of Norway's most picturesque with its charming old miners' houses and a museum that chronicles the story of its foundry. Here, you'll have time for lunch and to explore the historic centre. Our travels then take us to Trondheim, situated along Norway's central coast. As the third largest city in the country, Trondheim boasts a fascinating history dating back to the Viking era and was once the capital during the Middle Ages. You will have the opportunity to admire landmarks like the 11th-century cathedral and the famous old bridge spanning the canal. The city's vibrant nightlife and diverse restaurant scene await your exploration.
Day 6 - Trondheim - Kristiansund - Atlantic Road - Molde
After spending some time discovering the vibrant heart of Trondheim, we embark on a journey along the Norwegian coast. Today, we'll be treated to awe-inspiring views of the coastline and the majestic fjords of the Norwegian Sea. Our route takes us across one of these fjords by ferry, ultimately leading us to Kristiansund. This city, renowned for its striking natural vistas, has a rich history as a traditional fishing centre. Kristiansund is spread across several islands, interlinked by bridges and causeways, lending it a distinctive charm. In the delightful city centre, with its cobblestone streets, you'll find an array of shops, restaurants and cafes perfect for a leisurely lunch.Continuing our adventure, we'll traverse breathtaking landscapes en route to the Kvernes Stave Church, where admission is included. This 14th-century gem is home to an extraordinary 300-year-old ship model and altarpieces dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Our journey proceeds along the renowned Atlantic Road, often celebrated as Norway's most scenic stretch of oceanfront road. This spectacular drive spans eight bridges that seamlessly connect a series of islands. Here, the ocean's waves occasionally crash dramatically against the shore, enhancing the natural beauty of the setting. We'll pause at one of the viewpoints to relish the stunning vistas before heading to Molde. Arriving by evening, we'll find ourselves in this lively town, beautifully set along its fjord and a popular port of call for cruise ships.
Day 7 - Molde - Geiranger - Briksdalsbreen - Loen
Be prepared for a day immersed in stunning natural beauty, featuring UNESCO World Heritage Site fjords, majestic glaciers, and charming villages. Our day begins with a picturesque 50-minute ferry ride across the Romsdal Fjord, offering marvellous views. From here, we'll venture into the captivating snowy mountains and then descend towards the remarkable Storfjorden, promising even more breathtaking vistas. A subsequent 30-minute ferry journey will take us among snow-capped summits to the Eagle Viewpoint, renowned for its panoramic view of the Geiranger Fjord, one of Norway's most awe-inspiring sites. Upon arrival in the picturesque village of Geiranger, you'll have time to explore. Consider a boat trip on the fjord, a leisurely stroll by waterfalls cascading through the town, or relaxation in this serene setting. After lunch, we'll continue our journey through remarkable mountain and fjord scenery to reach Briksdalsbreen, a dazzling glacier nestled in a stunning natural location. You'll have the opportunity to hike to the glacier's base, choosing either to walk or opt for an electric vehicle ride. Finally, as we settle into the charming town of Loen for the evening, dinner awaits. This town, beautifully situated by the fjord, offers you the chance to experience one of the world's steepest cable cars, elevating you over 1,000 metres above sea levelan exhilarating way to end the day.
Day 8 - Loen - Bergen
Today, we embark on an early journey to Bergen, with around 300 kilometres of breathtaking scenery ahead. As we travel, we'll be mesmerised by the stunning fjord landscapes and majestic mountains, taking in the beauty of the region during a scenic ferry ride. Arriving in Bergen around lunchtime, we have arranged for a cable car ride up Flyen Mountain, where you can enjoy spectacular views over the city. Following this, you'll have free time to explore Norway's second-largest city, famed for its rich history, vibrant culture, and awe-inspiring natural surroundings. Wander through Bryggen, the historic dock district adorned with its brightly coloured wooden buildings, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Should you wish, you may also visit the city's Aquarium or experience the vibrant bustle of the fish market, offering a delightful selection of small restaurants.
Day 9 - Bergen - Eidfjord - Voringfossen - Geilo - Oslo
Our adventure today begins as we depart early from Bergen, journeying into the heart of Norway. We'll cross the stunning suspension bridge over the Hardanger Fjord, celebrated as one of the country's most breathtaking sights. Our first stop is the quaint town of Eidfjord, nestled right by the fjord. From here, we'll make our way to Voringsfossen, widely regarded as Norway's most spectacular waterfall. With its impressive 182-metre drop, the falls offer several viewpoints and bridges perfect for capturing this awe-inspiring natural wonder. After spending time at Voringsfossen, we continue through Norway's dramatic landscapes, where you'll witness the stark beauty of cold high plateaus, punctuated by small lakes and snowfields that remain frozen for much of the year. Our next stop is Geilo, a bustling ski resort town where we'll pause for lunch. Post-lunch, our journey takes us onwards to Oslo, where we plan to arrive in the evening. Once in the Norwegian capital, you might want to explore the vibrant city centre. You can stroll along the historic harbour or perhaps head to the rooftop terrace of the landmark Opera House for panoramic views of the city.
Day 10 - Oslo - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry
In the morning, we embark on a panoramic tour of Oslo, known for its lush greenery and stunning natural surroundings. Accompanied by our local guide, we'll drive by the Royal Palace, take a moment to admire the extraordinary sculptures at Frogner Park, and view the exterior of the Town Hall. Well also pass the historic harbour and see the modern Opera House. Following this, you'll have the opportunity to explore Oslo at your leisure. Perhaps you'll choose to visit one of the city's acclaimed museums. After lunch, we'll set sail on a comfortable modern overnight ferry to Denmark. This ferry offers the amenities of a cruise ship, ensuring a pleasant journey across the sea, with cabin accommodation and breakfast included. Please note that the ferry is scheduled to depart at 3:00 p.m., with boarding beginning at 2:00 p.m., and will arrive in Copenhagen at 10:00 a.m. Ferry schedules may be subject to change.
Day 11 - Oslo - Copenhagen Ferry - Copenhagen
We arrive in Copenhagen early in the morning. Today is yours to explore at your leisure and soak up the vibrant atmosphere of Denmark's charming capital. Whether you're interested in the city's rich history, architecture, or simply a leisurely stroll along its scenic streets, you'll find that Copenhagen offers a myriad of memorable experiences. Each corner of the city invites discovery, from its quaint cafes and bustling market squares to its serene parks and waterfront vistas. Enjoy your day uncovering the delights of this beautiful city.
