Day 1 - Beijing
Welcome to China! Upon arrival in Beijing, we'll arrange a transfer to your hotel, ensuring a seamless start to your adventure. As the evening sets in, we'll head to Wangfujing Street a bustling pedestrian avenue teeming with lively shops and a variety of restaurants. This vibrant spot offers the perfect introduction to the city's dynamic energy. Well enjoy dinner here before returning to the hotel, where you can unwind from your journey. Do keep in mind that throughout this tour, you may notice different travellers joining or departing at various stages; nevertheless, our group size will always remain comfortably within the limit. Day 2 - Beijing
Today we delve into the captivating heart of Beijing. Our full-day tour promises an exploration of this bustling capitals most iconic spots. We begin at the awe-inspiring Forbidden City, officially known as the Great Chinese Imperial Palace. This extraordinary complex, where 24 emperors once ruled, stands as China's most magnificent architectural marvel. Next, we will explore Jingshan Park, a beautifully preserved imperial garden where, weather permitting, well be treated to breathtaking views of the Forbidden City from the summit of Coal Hill. Our journey continues as we wander through the vast expanse of Tiananmen Square, one of the world's largest public squares, providing a glimpse of the Great National Theatre, also referred to as the Beijing Opera House. A delicious lunch will be included in our day's adventures. In the afternoon, we venture to the Summer Palace, the regal retreat of the Qing Dynasty, renowned for its idyllic gardens and tranquil lakes.We further immerse ourselves in local culture with a tricycle ride through the historic Hutong neighbourhoods. Here, we experience the timeless charm and rich heritage of traditional Beijing life, featuring classic shops and a visit to a Siheyuan, a traditional courtyard house. As the day concludes, we return to our hotel for an overnight stay. Please note: Due to restrictions on visitor numbers in place at the Forbidden City, we may need to adjust our plans. If access is not possible, we'll instead visit the Confucius Temple and the Lama Temple, significant cultural sites with deep roots in Chinese history.
Day 3 - Beijing - Shanghai
We begin Day 3 with an excursion to the Great Wall at the Mutianyu section, a marvellous architectural feat that has stood for over two millennia. A cable car will whisk us up and down the Wall, offering expansive views and the chance to walk upon this iconic structure your tickets are included, of course. As we bid farewell to Beijing, we'll savour a lunch featuring the renowned Peking duck, a fitting tribute to the citys culinary delights. Later, well make our way to the train station to embark on a high-speed train journey to Shanghai. Once we arrive in this dynamic metropolis, we will transfer to our hotel for check-in, ready to rest and prepare for the adventures that await the following day.
Day 4 - Shanghai
Today, we'll explore some of Shanghai's most iconic sights, beginning in the modern financial district of Pudong, known for its impressive array of skyscrapers, including the famous Pearl Tower. To appreciate the city's contrasting architecture, we'll embark on a scenic ferry ride across the Huangpu River, offering captivating views of both the historic and contemporary skylines.Next, we'll immerse ourselves in the cultural essence of the Old City, where we'll visit the serene Yuyuan Garden. This exquisite private garden, dating back to the Ming Dynasty, offers a peaceful escape from the urban bustle. During our visit, we'll partake in a traditional tea ceremony, providing a glimpse into China's rich cultural heritage. Our journey continues to Xintiandi, a fashionable neighbourhood brimming with trendy boutiques, charming cafs, and a lively atmosphere. Lunch is included in our itinerary. In the afternoon, we'll explore Tianzifang, a vibrant area known for its maze-like alleyways, unique craft shops, and contemporary art galleries. The day will conclude with a stroll along The Bund, a picturesque promenade lined with grand colonial-era buildingsreflecting Shanghai's historical European influences. You'll have the afternoon free to explore further at your leisure. For those interested in an unforgettable experience, you might consider a nighttime boat trip to witness the dazzling lights of Shanghai from the water.
Day 5 - Shanghai - Luoyang
We will begin our day with an early morning transfer to the train station in Shanghai to catch a high-speed train, scheduled to depart at 07:17 a.m. This journey will span more than five hours and cover approximately 1,000 kilometres, allowing us to enjoy views of the scenic Chinese countryside before we reach Luoyang. Upon arrival, lunch will be served.Our first stop will be the remarkable Longmen Buddhist Caves, an extraordinary site stretching over a kilometre of rocky cliffs by the river. Here, you will witness over 100,000 Buddha statues and carvings meticulously sculpted into the stone, making it one of China's most impressive archaeological treasures. To further appreciate its grandeur, we will take a leisurely boat ride along the river.After exploring the caves, we will transfer to the ancient city of Luoyang. As we pass through its imposing walls, you'll find yourself in the midst of streets teeming with traditional charm and a vibrant local atmosphere, illuminated for an unforgettable evening experience.
Day 6 - Luoyang - Longmen - Sanmexia - Xian
In the early hours, we explore the outskirts of Luoyang to visit the White Horse Buddhist Monastery, a significant and historical centre for Buddhist learning, renowned for welcoming scholars from across the globe. We continue to Sanmenxia, a city steeped in history, where we marvel at the mighty Yellow River. Our visit includes the Baolun Temple, famed for its impressive tall pagoda, and the esteemed Guo Museum. Here, you'll witness the ancient funeral carriages of the former State of Guo, offering a unique insight into the region's past. A delightful lunch is included. As we journey east, we'll pass the sacred Mount Hua, known for its dramatic peaks and spiritual significance, before arriving in Xian by late afternoon to conclude our day.
Day 7 - Xian
We've arrived in Xian, the remarkable city that marks the start of the ancient Silk Road. Our morning begins with a visit to the legendary Terracotta Army, an extraordinary archaeological site where thousands of life-sized clay soldiers have stood sentry over China's first emperor for centuries. After this incredible experience, we'll return to Xian to admire the Small Wild Goose Pagoda, a stunning Buddhist structure with a history spanning over a thousand years.Next, we'll explore the city's historic heart, wandering through the lively Muslim Quarter. Here, you'll find the Great Mosque, a fascinating blend of cultural and religious influences uniquely intertwined within China's history. Our itinerary also includes a visit to the Drum Tower, where you can enjoy a brief performance of traditional Chinese music played on ancient instruments. Afterwards, you will have some free time to explore the city at your own pace, allowing you to delve deeper into Xian's rich cultural tapestry.
Day 8 - Xian - Chengdu
Today, we depart from Xian aboard a modern high-speed train, covering approximately 700 kilometres in just over three hours to reach Chengdu. Upon arrival, we'll head to the renowned Panda Bear Research and Breeding Centre, home to 120 giant pandas and 76 red pandas. This reserve offers a unique opportunity to observe these remarkable creatures in their natural habitat. Following our visit, lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, well enjoy a leisurely stroll through Peoples Park. This tranquil setting features a serene lake, local residents practising Tai Chi, and traditional tea houses.
Day 9 - Chengdu
Today we embark on an enchanting full-day tour through the stunning landscapes and traditional villages of Sichuan Province. Our first stop is Dujiangyan, where we'll marvel at the ingenious ancient irrigation systema feat of engineering that has been in operation for over 2,000 years and is recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Continuing our exploration, we head to Qingcheng Shan, the 'Mountain of the Green City', a sacred Taoist location. Here, you can wander along forested paths, discovering hidden caves, pavilions, and centuries-old wooden temples. Lunch is included during our visit. Our day concludes with a visit to the ancient town of Jiezi, where you'll stroll through winding alleys steeped in history spanning over a thousand years. We will then return to Chengdu to end this memorable day.
Day 10 - Chengdu - Kunming
Today, we set off for Kunming after a comfortable flight from Chengdu. Known as the 'Spring City' for its pleasant climate, Kunming is the bustling capital of Yunnan Province. Upon arrival, we will transfer you to your hotel to settle in. Our first excursion takes us to the vibrant Bird and Flower Market, a lively spot that encapsulates the city's traditional charm. Here, you'll find an array of exotic plants, chirping birds, and intricate local handicrafts. We will also visit the Golden Temple, a tranquil Taoist sanctuary famed for its beautiful copper architecture. This brief introduction to Kunming will give you a taste of the city's dynamic culture and serene landscapes before we return to our hotel for an overnight stay.
Day 11 - Kunming
Today, our adventure begins in Kunming, where we'll visit the Zhuanxin Farmers Market, a traditional hub brimming with a vibrant array of fresh fruits, vegetables, and other local produce. This bustling market offers a wonderful opportunity to engage with the local community and gain insight into daily life in Kunming. Following our market visit, we head out of the city for an excursion to the extraordinary Stone Forest. Recognised as a UNESCO Natural Heritage Site, the Stone Forest showcases a remarkable landscape of towering limestone formations, resembling an ancient petrified woodland.As we weave through this awe-inspiring natural wonder, there will be ample time to marvel at its unique, almost otherworldly beauty. A lunch is included amidst these stunning surroundings, adding to the day's memorable experiences. Upon returning to Kunming, we'll take a leisurely stroll through the historic Laojie District. This area, rich in character and tradition, provides a perfect end to our day's exploration. Enjoy the evening as you wish, perhaps delving deeper into Kunmings vibrant culture or savour a quiet moment in one of the citys charming eateries.
Day 12 - Kunming - Dali
Today, we'll board a high-speed train from Kunming, heading to Dalia city celebrated for its historic Bai ethnic minority architecture. Upon arrival, well explore Dalis Old Town and the lively Westerner Street, bustling with charming shops, vibrant bars, and artisanal craft studios. Lunch will be provided. Our afternoon adventure takes us to the Chongsheng Temple, where well ascend by electric vehicle to appreciate this magnificent site. Overnight stay in Dali awaits, adding a restful close to our exploration-filled day.
Day 13 - Dali - Xizhou - Zhoucheng - Lijiang
We journey north today, leaving behind the vibrant landscapes around Erhai Lake and traversing lush green mountains. Our first destination is Xizhou Ancient Town, where we will have the opportunity to admire the beautifully preserved traditional courtyard houses of the Bai ethnic group. From there, well head to Zhoucheng Village, famous across the globe for its exquisite hand-crafted blue-dyed textiles. Along the way, we will pause for a delightful lunch. Afterward, we continue to Lijiang, a city that stands as a testament to preservation, recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site for its rich history and culturally significant architecture.
Day 14 - Lijiang
On Day 14, well explore the stunning Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, a renowned peak in Yunnan province. You will ascend by cable car, offering panoramic views that change with the seasons: lush green forests in summer, or a snow-laden spectacle in winter. Please note, the cable car may close due to strong winds, and lengthy queues are possible during peak tourist season. After your cable car journey, we'll delve into the traditional villages of Yuhu and Baisha, unveiling the historical tapestry of the Nakhi people. Lunch is included today. Later, well wander through the ancient town of Dayan and take a scenic walk through Black Dragon Pool Park, where you can capture the breathtaking backdrop of the Jade Dragon Snow Mountain. We then return to Lijiang for the night.
Day 15 - Lijiang - Hong Kong
On Day 15, we prepare for a journey that takes us from Lijiang to Hong Kong. We will transfer to the airport for a flight included in your itinerary, whisking us off to one of the worlds most dynamic cities. Upon arrival in Hong Kong, a bustling metropolis known for its skyline and vibrant culture, we will ensure you are comfortably transferred to your hotel. This transition marks your arrival in a significant financial and cultural hub. Enjoy the rest of the day at your leisure, as you begin to explore the fascinating fusion of East and West in this iconic city.
Day 16 - Hong Kong
Upon enjoying a hearty breakfast, we embark on a visit to the city, delving into Hong Kong's dynamic financial centre with its iconic skyscrapers. Our excursion includes the History Museum, where we gain insight into the city's rich past, covering its colonial era, the impact of World War II, and more. Continuing to the Avenue of the Stars, we'll admire tributes to film industry legends. Next, we take the picturesque Star Ferry across Hong Kong Bay, a quintessential experience offering splendid views. Ascending by bus to Victoria Peak, we reach an impressive 552 metres, rewarded with panoramic city vistas. We'll descend via the historic Peak Tram, concluding our morning tour. The afternoon is yours to explore at leisure, allowing personal discoveries of this vibrant metropolis.
Day 17 - Hong Kong
Following breakfast, our adventure concludes, leaving you with treasured memories of your journey.
