Hobart - Mount Field National Park - Cradle Mountain Lake St Clair National Park - Franklin Gordon Wild Rivers National Park - Queenstown - Strahan. You will be picked up from the designated pick-up point at 7:30 AM as we begin our journey through Tasmania’s wild West Coast, spending the day immersed in three of the island’s most striking national parks.

We start at Mount Field National Park, where we walk beneath towering rainforest canopies to reach the tiered beauty of Russell Falls and admire the tallest flowering trees on Earth. From here, we continue to the southern end of the Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park to stand at the edge of Lake St Clair – Australia’s deepest freshwater lake.

As we head further west, the landscape becomes increasingly remote and dramatic. In the Franklin-Gordon Wild Rivers National Park, we pass rugged mountain ranges, windswept button grass plains and ancient temperate rainforest – a region both ecologically significant and culturally rich.

A short stop in Queenstown gives us a glimpse into Tasmania’s pioneering mining history, before we arrive in the quiet harbourside village of Strahan, where we settle in for the night.

Today, you will have the option to tailor your West Coast experience with two contrasting ways to explore this remote wilderness.

For an active adventure, you can join a guided walk through cool temperate rainforest to the towering Henty Sand Dunes, a striking natural landscape shaped by the powerful Roaring Forties winds.

Alternatively, for a more leisurely day, you may choose to join the Gordon River Cruise at an additional fee. This iconic experience takes you across Macquarie Harbour, visits the historic penal settlement of Sarah Island, and ventures deep into the World Heritage Area where you can stroll among ancient Huon pines.

Later in the day, we visit the windswept expanse of Ocean Beach, Tasmania’s longest stretch of sand, to take in the dramatic views of the Southern Ocean and breathe some of the world’s cleanest air.

Strahan - Cradle Mountain - Sheffield - Launceston. This morning, we travel into the heart of Cradle Mountain–Lake St Clair National Park, part of the UNESCO-listed Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area and one of Australia’s premier hiking destinations.

At Ronny Creek, we may spot wombats grazing in the open alpine meadows before setting out to explore this dramatic mountain landscape. You can choose from several walking options, depending on your pace and preference. For a rewarding challenge, take on the steep track to Marion’s Lookout for sweeping views over Cradle Mountain and Dove Lake. Alternatively, enjoy the more leisurely six-kilometre circuit around Dove Lake, a scenic route beneath towering peaks and through glacially carved terrain.

In the afternoon, we continue to the quirky town of Sheffield, known for its vibrant outdoor murals depicting the region’s history and culture, before we continue to Launceston for the evening.

Launceston - St. Helens - Bay Of Fires - Bicheno. Today, we begin by exploring Cataract Gorge, a striking natural reserve just moments from central Launceston. We take a short walk along the gorge’s scenic trails and may spot wallabies amongst the bushland before heading east towards the coast.

We will make a stop in the fishing town of St Helens, where you can grab lunch before we continue to the Bay of Fires, also known as Larapuna. Here, we stroll along brilliant white sand and admire the vivid turquoise waters that make this stretch of coastline so iconic.

As we walk, we reflect on the deep cultural and spiritual significance of this place for the Palawa people, Tasmania’s First Nations custodians.

Our day ends in the relaxed seaside town of Bicheno, known for its colony of little penguins that come ashore at dusk.

Bicheno - Freycinet National Park - Hobart. This morning, we explore one of Tasmania’s most iconic landscapes, Freycinet National Park. We begin with a hike up the 1000 steps to the Wineglass Bay Lookout, where we are rewarded with views over the perfect curve of white sand and turquoise water. For those keen to stretch their legs further, you can continue down to the beach itself for a closer look at this spectacular bay.

If you're seeking a more challenging adventure, you may choose to climb Mt Amos, a steep ascent that offers sweeping views across the Freycinet Peninsula from the summit.

Alternatively, you can take a more relaxed pace and enjoy the scenic surrounds from Honeymoon Bay, where the pink granite peaks of the Hazards rise above coastal bushland and calm waters.

Before leaving the park, we visit Cape Tourville Lighthouse to take in the panoramic views over the Tasman Sea. We then travel along the Great Eastern Drive, returning to Hobart.

Hobart - Richmond - Hobart. On our final day, we visit Bonorong, Tasmania’s leading wildlife conservation sanctuary, where we have the chance to see a variety of native species, including the iconic Tasmanian devil. We then continue to the historic village of Richmond, admired for its remarkably preserved colonial buildings and heritage charm.

Our return journey to Hobart takes us through the picturesque Coal River Valley before we head into Wellington Park, known locally as The Mountain and by its Palawa name Kunanyi. Here our guide leads us through a landscape of lush fern gullies, towering eucalypts, striking rock columns and sweeping boulder fields. With excellent walking tracks and spectacular viewpoints it is the perfect way to conclude our Tasmanian adventure.

After, we will return to Hobart, where we will be dropped of at our designated drop off point at approximately 5.30 PM.
