Itinerary
Day 1 - Arrival in Hanoi
On arrival at Hanoi International Airport, you will meet your tour guide and take a private transfer for about 45 minutes to the city centre for hotel check-in.
Hanoi, Vietnam’s capital, sits in the heart of the Northern Delta and is home to over 6 million people. Founded in 1010, it is a city with more than a thousand years of history. Despite the impact of wars and time, many cultural and historic landmarks remain. The Red River, lined with rice fields and farms, has long sustained life here and is often compared to the great rivers that nurtured early civilisations.
Please note: Check-in is from 2 PM / 3 PM.
Distance: 30 KM
Day 2 - Hanoi Exploration
This morning, you meet your guide in the hotel lobby at 9:00 and take a short taxi ride to the Temple of Literature. As you explore its courtyards, your guide introduces you to Confucianism and explains how its principles continue to shape Vietnamese society today. After a short break at a traditional tea house, you set off on a walking tour of the city.
You wander through narrow lanes and lively street markets, cross bustling junctions, and stroll along broad, tree-lined avenues before weaving into the maze of the Old Quarter. The walk also takes you beside the famous Hanoi railway, where daily life unfolds just steps from the tracks. The experience ends in a spacious courtyard, where you will enjoy some street food, watching local chefs at work and tasting some of Hanoi’s signature dishes. Afterwards, you return to your hotel by private transfer.
Day 3 - Hanoi at leisure or Optional Tam Coc Exploration
Today, you may enjoy a day at leisure in Hanoi, or take an optional full-day excursion to the stunning landscapes of Tam Coc. (bookable at an additional fee)
If you choose the tour, you depart Hanoi at 7:00 with your guide, travelling south to Ninh Binh Province. After around two hours, you arrive in the valley of Tam Coc, often referred to as “Halong Bay on land” for its rice paddies, winding waterways, and dramatic limestone cliffs.
At 9:00, you can enjoy a coffee while your guide arranges the bicycles. You then set off on a relaxed ride along quiet country roads, pausing to visit Bich Dong Pagoda, where three tiers of temples provide excellent views over the surrounding countryside.
By 11:00, you return the bicycles and take lunch at a restaurant beside the Tam Coc waterway. After the meal, a short drive brings you to Hoa Lu, once the imperial capital. Although the citadel has largely disappeared, two historic temples dedicated to the Dinh and Le dynasties remain. Your guide will share their history as you explore.
The journey continues to Van Long, Vietnam’s largest wetland reserve. With limestone peaks, calm waters, and rich biodiversity, it is a haven for birdlife and also shelters the endangered Delacour’s langur. Here, you board a sampan to explore its tranquil waterways before travelling back to Hanoi by private vehicle, arriving in the late afternoon depending on traffic.
Day 4 - Hanoi, Da Nang & Hoi An
Hanoi - Da Nang - Hoi An. After breakfast, you have free time to explore Hanoi at your own pace—perhaps enjoying a final coffee, browsing the shops, or taking a short walk—before being collected for your transfer to Hanoi Airport and flight to Da Nang.
On arrival in Da Nang, you are met and transferred to your hotel in Hoi An. The remainder of the day is at your leisure to explore the town or enjoy dinner at one of its many restaurants.
Day 5 - Hoi An Discovery
This morning, you set out on a relaxed stroll through the historic centre of Hoi An. Your guide leads you along winding alleyways and quiet streets, where old yellow-painted houses reflect the town’s centuries-old character. As you walk, you stop at places of cultural interest and enjoy a few local tastings arranged by your guide. Food, drink, and the stories behind them are an essential part of the experience.
Please note:The walk can be tailored in length, and if required, taxi transfers between our hotel and the town are included.
Day 6 - Hoi An at Leisure
Today is free for you to explore Hoi An at your own pace. You may wish to wander through the old town, browse the markets, or relax in a riverside café. Another option is to hire a bicycle and cycle out to nearby villages or the beach, enjoying the slower pace of local life.
Day 7 - Second day at Leisure in Hoi An
Another full day at leisure in Hoi An. You could revisit favourite corners of the old town, take a boat trip on the Thu Bon River, or join an excursion to the ancient My Son Sanctuary. However you choose to spend it, the day is yours.
Day 8 - Hoi An to Da Nang
Hoi An - Da Nang. After your final breakfast in Hoi An, you have time at leisure to relax or make the most of the town’s atmosphere before checking out. You will then be transferred to Da Nang Airport for your onward flight.
Please note: Check out is from 12 PM. This transfer is unaccompanied, and the journey time is approximately one hour, depending on traffic.
